That’s about it. If you have any real digital media experience and have respect for yourself, DO NOT work for Jukin. The upper management is a complete mess. There are many people there will little experience in positions they shouldn’t be in. Lots of non-creatives trying to be creative. They will make you do more work with no promotions or raises. They will get you for as low and possible and make you feel like you’re getting something special. It’s an extremely toxic environment. I have been in this industry for many years and I’ve NEVER experienced anything like this place before. Don’t make the same mistake I did. RUN! You won’t be appreciated here and you’ll end up hating your life in a month. From the top down, this company is a joke. First, the people. I've learned so much and met so many kind , hard-working, talented, and smart people. I've developed skills that will help me for the rest of my career, and I've developed meaningful friendships outside of work. Second, the company has a really interesting model and it's a cool time to work in digital media/ online video. The landscape is changing so much, and we experiment with new business ideas and new platforms, and that makes it exciting. One last thing is that it's still independent and not too corporate; we have HR, and strong internal resources, so it's not like a brand new startup, but it still feels like a lot less red tape than many corporate jobs. It's not a huge company, there are maybe 200 or so employees, so it seems kind of difficult to make moves internally. At huge companies there are more job openings and more chances to move laterally or between departments. This company is completely different from where it was 5+ years ago. 5+ years ago it was full of young graduates who were very eager to get started in their first professional job. This had its pros and cons. One of the main cons were that they had unrealistic expectations. They would expect pay rises every 6 months and title bumps every year. As you can expect, this caused a lot of issues and resentment. Instead of moving on to another company they stuck around and continued to complain they weren't getting 6-figures for a job that would pay half that anywhere else. Even today I hear former employees still complain about their own misgivings. Today? Jukin had made a lot of drastic changes that have benefited the company tremendously. Instead of hiring fresh graduates, they've made considerable investments into smart, experienced professionals who have been in the industry for a long time. They've continued to build the HR department not just for the US but also for other offices around the world. With regular meetings every month, both as a group and for individuals. They've expanded their benefits, again for all employees around the world. They are more transparent with the employees with regard to where the company is doing in the industry and financially. Every couple of months we have a hands-on meeting to see where we are as a company. They let us know where our successes are, and where our challenges have been. The development of a bonus structure is more transparent. IT support has improved leaps and bounds. Our customer support for VO has improved tremendously, making work easier and more enjoyable. There is a much better view of what is expected of you. In the past, this has been murky and would cause issues at some point. Overall, my colleagues are much more professional, experienced, mature, and joyful to work with. Beautiful office environment. Very supportive organization and ready to help you in any way. They care about their employees and always make sure their employees are mentally and physically healthy.
