private:kamcord https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=916779 May 12th, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Kamcord San Francisco, CA After 1 year, I was ready for a better challenge. Free snacks, free lunch and dinner, and free booze. A super smart team of engineers, designers, and sales folks. The office has a lot of chill space for when you need to take a break from your desk environment. There's also a gaming station with Gamecube and PlayStation set ups. Convenient Downtown/SoMa location that is easily Bart and Muni accessible. Quarterly offsites, and an annual retreat. The money was good. The company had to shift priorities with product pivots twice in 2016. Ultimately this demotivated the team. Employee engagement was poor. Folks were laid off or resigned. I'm just not convinced that the company knows it's product fit anymore. The Founders received alot of feedback by way of engagement survey, and made commitments to make things better, but in alot of ways - it was too little too late. I saw no room for growth for myself there and didn't care enough to stick it out and see what happened. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 13.0 3.0 4.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 916779 Open Be humble. There are already a number of reviews appearing talking about cons which i am fully agree with. Please take your time and read those. For me those are the biggest: - No trust from founders - Too controlling - Micro-management - Greedy - Not willing to change or adapt new technologies - Not flexible - "Employees are just slaves" - attitude - Board does not seem to have any say in decisions -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 6.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 916779 Open It is very unfortunate that having such a great talent founders didn't invest into listening to experienced people in the company nor invested in hiring someone with real skills to advice them. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Mar 13th, 2021 10:59PM Mar 13th, 2021 10:59PM Kamcord
private:kamcord https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=916779 May 10th, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Kamcord Software Engineer San Francisco, CA Could Have Been Something Run rate for another couple years, really nice and smart coworkers, good location. A startup with none of the perks and run like a large corporation. Limited vacation days, hours worked are tracked, decisions made only from the top. You want to have your voice heard and innovate? Best you look elsewhere then. Founders are pretty cheap in general; penny wise pound foolish is the best way to sum it up. If an engineer tells you he isn't learning much, that should be a red flag that you need to do something otherwise he will seek greener pastures elsewhere soon. We have such a kind, smart, understanding team (that quite frankly they take for granted) that instead of jumping ship during this extended period of senseless pivots and zero learning, engineers suggest the alternative of perhaps attending a workshop or conference at a minimal cost ... only to be quickly shut down by founders who simply "don't see the value" in the one time cost of $500 or $1000. They never think about the long term future cost of technical debt that will grow once the engineer leaves, or the cost of finding a replacement and then training them. They don't think about these intangibles and it's because their EQ levels are so low. Unfortunately, this is not simply due to naivete. It's obsession with minutia paired with sheer arrogance. While employees feel stuck and unheard, we are losing users at an alarming rate. Meanwhile, the condescending, know-it-all CEO/Founder is reading golf and TechCrunch articles, obsessing over how chairs are arranged in the office, blasting people on Slack for leaving a glass of water in a conference room and reminding everyone (who pretends to listen) how he is so good at playing everyone "like chess pieces" - just revolting. Don't you have better things to do or bigger problems to solve when your company is falling apart? And stop telling us "here's what Snapchat is doing wrong ..." they are WINNING! We are LOSING! -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 10.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 916779 Open Don't be so arrogant. It's unbecoming, especially when you've achieved nothing. private:kamcord https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=916779 May 8th, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Kamcord United States USA It's like a terrible reality TV show without the TV.. or Users - Some of the people that worked here were really smart talented. Thankfully, they got out. - Lots of snacks. - Lack of vision and leadership. There are 3 founders and all three seem dazed and confused. Yet, they lead with a delusion that they have a plan, or that they are industry leaders.. Far from the truth - You can't ask the CEO a question about why he's wanting to do something without getting attitude, and a huffy puffy demeanor, because he thinks he knows what's best. Clearly.. because the company has pivoted how many times now? - Don't know what the founders do half the time, either watching YouTube, someone's stream (do they even do streaming anymore?), golf, or reading news articles - Delusion, delusion, delusion - People don't get there until late, and they don't leave until late, thinking this is showing great work ethic, but, if that were the case, they would have a successful product. Which clearly isn't the case. - The promote people to higher titles because they've been at the company for a while, but they don't have the skills or experience to back up the new title/pay. Most of time, it's their first job out of college. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 5.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 916779 Open If everyone is telling you you're dead, it's time to lie down. So take them with an ounce of salt. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 4.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 3.0 1.0 916779 Open Good luck in your next endeavor. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Mar 13th, 2021 10:59PM Mar 13th, 2021 10:59PM Kamcord
