I enjoyed working at KFDA NewsChannel10 as a reporter. It is a great place to learn and grow as a reporter/anchor. The news team is open to innovative ideas and it is a digital-first newsroom. We had 10-minute Tuesdays where the assistant news director would select a focus and present ways to improve. Story pitches are very important to the News Director. The News director wants you to succeed and will work with you! If you want to stand out as a reporter have a planned story and make calls before the morning meeting. Show that you are thinking ahead of work. Anchor Walt and Meteorologist Doppler Dave will pass on amazing advice and will help improve your skills. Ali, the morning anchor, will connect you with the most amazing sources and can be an amazing friend/mentor. If you have an opportunity to learn and grow, KFDA is a fantastic place to start your career. W should know very well if you’re able to fill a position before putting someone through the job hiring process and getting their hopes up. The entire process was time consuming and could have been detrimental to my job situation had my current job not allowed me to take my two weeks notice back. It's a small market so it's a great place to learn. They're getting new technology and actively trying to improve the quality of the newscast.If you're a reporter or producer, you'll learn the basics of what you'll need to know to start and refine your career. There is horrible management, communication, pay and culture. People are lazy and frequently take off. There's a lot of negativity in the newsroom, and employees and very selfish. They only look out for themselves and do the bare minimum when it comes to teamwork. Depending on what shift you work, there's multiple people telling you different things about what you should be doing, and it takes them forever to come to an overall decision. Leadership is extremely weak, but is starting to somewhat improve. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 4.0 1.0 1.0 711080 Open Pay your employees more for all the hard work they do. It's hard to live off 10 dollars an hour or less. Help your reporters and producers make a better product pre-show and don't just bash them when something goes wrong on air when they had no direction in the first place. And instill a sense of work ethic in the newsroom.
