Management is severely out of touch. Production is payed minimum wage and encouraged to get other jobs in order to make a living wage. No bonuses or raises ever, and is encouraged not to even discuss. Upper level does not listen to lower level employees at all.

Don’t belittle millennial employees when the only reason your show goes on the air is because millennials do the hard work. Don’t understaff and expect the current employees to do double the work for minimum wage.

Pay your production staff what they’re worth, that way producers, directors, TMPs, photogs and reporters will actually stay around after their contracts are up. We have college degrees and without us, the news doesn’t get on air.

Pay your production staff what they are worth and they won't leave constantly. The fact that production staff make minimum wage with no actual hope of promotions or bonuses is disgusting. Also the fact that you don't pay your interns but expect them to to the same amount of work as everyone else is terrible.

There are some pretty good people that work very hard and I have enjoyed working with these people. The building is modern.
|
The cost out-of-pocket for benefits at this company are massively high. Over $6000 annually comes out of paycheck for just one person for medical, dental, and PARKING.
YES, They charge their own employees to park under the building in their own parking garage. They oversell the amount of parking spots. Not guaranteed a spot to park even after paying for it, then have to park on the street paying double if there is no parking in the garage.

If You're A Hard Worker, They'll Work You Hard

- #1 station in the market
- Creative freedom
- Lots of opportunities for overtime (but they will take advantage of you if you volunteer too often)
- Marketable internet skills
- Room for growth

- Anchor monsters! Beware the morning show! Also, some on-air talent is clearly just phoning it in night after night.
- Rarely fully staffed (we always seemed to be lacking at least 1 director or reporter or producer or assignment editor or crew member.
- Long hours, little oversight
- They will not pay market value unless you negotiate for it before signing a contract. They have hired reporters and producers for $10/hour while a union job at KREM can make $14-15.

Brutal newsroom. Management allows people to do whatever they need to do to get ahead. Ratings have become more important than the individuals they hire.
