A lot of cons. Way to many to go on with. Over all kidrobot can be a great company but not under Neca and the owner of it. The owner is slowly pulling this company down. The owner is very cheep and doesn't know anything about toys. Bad ideas come from him and they are laughable. The work life balance is awful and project are always a mess. No direction and no goals in mind as a company. Recently most of all staff was laid off trying to keep the company going. Before that people were leaving left and right because it was so bad. Super Creative, low push back and creative over site. The problem isn't with Kidrobot, it's with NECA (Owner of Kidrobot). The CEO Joel is a grimy, cheap, and a scum bag who will steal your money and not think twice about it. They kept my accrued PTO which is in our policy to payout and illegal in Colorado. The pay is depressingly low, low enough that people wont take positions. The turn around for a company is quick. I was there a little over a year. I saw 3 people get fired, a round of layoffs and countless, talented people leave. If you work here count on working in a disorganized management style that is micro managed by a boss who wont shake hands with Kidrobot employees or introduce him self at all. I heard his voice once out of the year and 6 months I worked there. I would also count on looking for another job. Great people in creative department. Currently not much else. Management is inexperienced and lazy. This causes insecurity. I was often yelled at, sworn at, yelled at, even in meetings for asking questions relating to my work. Sadly, this bullying behavior is creating sycophants who can be ruthless about their own survival. It's like a bad reality show. Pay is low. Ideas for new products are abysmal and tasteless. You will be overworked and underpaid. You will be punished for asking even completely relevant questions. This is not a normal company. In any way. Laziness and Narcissism are the rule and you can only try to survive by flying under the radar or aligning yourself with the incompetent management. The sad fact is, you won't make it. Against reality-denying management you stand no chance. Eventually they will turn on you. "Kidrobot does not provide coffee or tea" - Seriously. Cheap doesn't begin to describe it. It's pathological. Sinking ship - after years of turnover there were recently layoffs and people continue to leave. Upper management is the biggest problem at this company. The owner of this company does not care about company operations or employee well being and will most likely cause Kidrobot to go out of business due to poor business decisions. On top of that, the office environment was tense and unnecessarily secretive and many employees were often worried about job security. Upper management laid off 90% of the company abruptly just before the holiday season and essentially cut out all departments except one to try to run Kidrobot as an inefficient shell of what it was. It is doubtful that they will ever be hiring again but if there is ever a position posted, I would highly recommend NOT applying. There used to be a lot of people there that knew what they were doing, however they have since moved on. Bad upper management. No organization. Owner doesn’t care about anyone and thinks he knows better than anyone he hires so does not listen or trust his employees. Hires people because of their name within the industry but does not realize that they don’t actually know what they’re doing. Treats vendors poorly and takes advantage of a “good” opportunity. Many secrets within the business that are immoral and wrong. No bonuses or pay raises and they do not match 401k. The benefits are bad and you will never see a raise. They will probably lowball your salary to get you hired and never raise it. The project management is disorganized and you might never know if you're doing too much or too little based on the lack of real feedback. This company has no resources. It is tiny. If you needed emergency medical leave, sick leave, had to take extra days to go to a funeral, whatever, you would be scr*wed. They put A LOT of value on trying to seem as hip and cool as possible but they don't have the fundamentals as a business to back it up. Don't say nobody told you. Deal with some interesting entertainment licenses. Most product lines of original designs discontinued. Virtually all entertainment licenses in past few years. Super passionate & fun team at the, "regular" level. Occasional fun events at the office. Leadership mostly only cares about long lunches & leaving work early to train for personal sporting glory, rather than the wellbeing of the company.
