The leadership team works diligently to ensure that the work environment at every site is positive and welcoming to everyone who visits. There are opportunities for growth from summer to summer and even sometimes within the same summer, based on need and the individual's performance and attitude. As with any job working with kids, it can be stressful at times - but the support and friendship among coworkers foster bonds that last for years. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the leadership team quickly assembled a plan that evolved throughout the summer - sometimes day to day. These efforts mitigated the spread of the virus at sites and created a safe, fun environment that established some normalcy for the kids who had been stuck inside since the beginning of lock down. I always felt incredible appreciated and cared for. I will say that this is a PART TIME job. I had some co workers complaining of low salary and hours when it is clearly stated that this is part time work. But if you go in with that understanding you will have a great time and a rewarding experience. The opportunity to grow is tbe biggest takeaway. They train you, allow mistakes, give opportunity to learn and grow, and the culture is that of a family. This job high stress level. You have to have looooots of patience because the children required a lot of attention. They do enforce ratios, but you won't have another counselor with you at ALL times. If you're a college student this could definitely be for you. Very flexible with the hours. The only thing is you work for about 3-4 hours and the pay isn't that good. The management is awesome but people seem to quit a lot because of the low pay which is why they are always hiring.
