There's no overtime culture to speak of, while flexible working varies from team to team There are a lot of fun and caring people at Kiloo, and if you're lucky you can end up in a very close-knit team with a supportive manager The new office facilities will hopefully improve the physical working environment The macho senior management team have created a culture of fear and confusion. People are afraid to break cover with their projects and ideas for fear of them being shut down or rubbished by poorly qualified 'visionaries'. Decisions about the future of specific titles are shrouded in secrecy and are taken without involving the right stakeholders I have witnessed colleagues being shouted at in front of their teams and have heard horror stories about this behaviour happening frequently. Physical intimidation is unacceptable and I hope that the perpetrator will have the wisdom to step back from his toxic management style if he cares about staff wellbeing and retention This toxic culture has led directly to many employees leaving Kiloo, even though they have friendly colleagues and interesting work. You get to hang out with artists and game producers and everyone else involved in meta-game development. There's a lot of people there that are passionate about games and pop-culture in general. Friday-bar and company parties are usually fun after the summary/roadmap presentation part ends. Some of the pros turn directly into cons considering the rapid growth this company went through over the last few years. While increasing in size, it failed to grow the process, mindset and level of professionalism along. The higher levels present a bro-culture and are unreachable by simply doing a good job. The company has very international profile but you can clearly see that the management is dominated by native employees, while the grunts are mostly expats right out of school. Rotation is high, salaries are low (at least in the DEV department, which supposedly is common in game industry) and they are not negotiated(!) They give a ridiculous reason about treating everyone equally, but it's just an excuse to pay everyone low. There is no clear path to advance. Just being good at what you do does not guarantee you will get noticed and promoted in any way. Speaking strictly about software development: if you're looking for professional environment where you'll be able to get valuable experience and new skills, avoid this company. Some of the seniors are there just because they've been sitting in the company for long enough, while some really smart guys with potential are in the junior positions for years. You might get micromanaged and forced to use techniques that violate common good practices if you're unlucky to get a wrong senior in your team. Some of them really don't want to get out of their comfort zone and learn anything new. Put more effort into training employees. Talk and listen to both sides when trying to resolve conflicts. Overtime is payed. If you love making games this is the place for you. Flexible and relaxed working hours. No real career paths, management lacks vision. The salary is not really negotiated, it's more imposed. Your are surrounded mostly by young colleagues that will share same passions and hobbies. It used to be as a "FAMILY", but not anymore. The company expanded so much that you don't have any clue who is sitting next to you at lunch (people are leaving and coming every day).
