Major struggles to decide on brand identity, Kin never very successfully tackled the transition from MCN to mainstream content player and is suffering the consequences of indecision and delays. Numbers sinking by day and sales team cut to the bone; impulse-driven, short-sighted decision making is rampant among management. Company positioning has pivoted so often in recent years that hardly anyone knows which way is up. Layoffs and other exits have become more and more frequent.

Very rewarding and insightful internship

- The team is nice and friendly and felt like family by the end of the internship
- Was allowed to jump into different projects and learn from everyone
- Fairly decent autonomy
- team building days

- Didn't really know my place in the beginning because of lack of training
- Was expected to know how to do everything right from the start (goes back to lack of training)
- Expected to stay late with no overtime
- Always changing branding so it's hard to keep up with what Kin's message is

Amazing people, as talented and hardworking as they are personable. Great culture. Great benefits. I loved coming to work each day and I made lifelong friends while working here.

The company doesn't know who it is, nor who it wants to be. Everything from the company's vision and business plan to its corporate structure seems to change almost every quarter. Decisions are made based on impulses, rather than data. By the time new processes are in place, that work is scrapped, as focus changes toward new initiatives. Twenty people were laid off, only to start hiring the same positions back three months later.

The problem is that anything that I might say here won't be heard, because management does not listen when people (who are actually doing the things that management is trying to make decisions on) offer their advice, opinions, and perspectives. Your people could have saved you multiple times over, had you only listened to what they had to say.

Great Place to Work!

I loved my experience interning in the People & Culture department at Kin Community. The office is very warm and inviting and the people who work there are great! Lots of fun activities and gatherings that really make the team feel more like one big family. I loved going into work every day.

Parking was tight at the office, but they more than make up for that with a parking stipend for their employees to park at meters or Uber to work.
