In the same way people generally check themselves in a mirror to make sure they can see an accurate reflection of themselves, Kinetix strives to provide an objective and accurate reflection of who you are in your career and in your interactions with others. This process may be uncomfortable to most, as constructive feedback often is taken as public shaming, but the reality is that if you perceive constructive feedback as a non-judgemental way of giving advice then you will be able to leverage feedback to exponentially increase growth. The company is undergoing growing pains as it tries to figure out how to best leverage resources efficiently to keep up with client demand. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 904883 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 6.0 Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Kinetix Technology Services
private:kinetixtechnologyservices https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=904883 Jan 16th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Kinetix Technology Services Client Success Manager San Mateo, CA A 10 year start-up with a focus of fun & hard work I had a year and a half of a quarter of full-time employment at Kinetix as an entry-level Client Success Manager - with no prior experience. For that reason, I am very grateful for the experience I had. I was entrusted to rise to a new height and that was a great honor and powerful motivator to bring with me every day into the office. The company offered a social and inviting group of individuals. My personal favorite was the wine and paint event we had one Friday evening. Almost every Friday was the perfect opportunity to turn up the music and start taking the edge off, if you liked to, with a beer by at least 3 PM. I learned how to explore a ketogenic diet and, in this domain, personally thank my boss who helped me dive into this space. I believe this will be a lifestyle I continue to practice until my dying breath. Medical packages were excellent. Also, they had strong incentives to progress personal learning goals each month with a scholar program where you think back on your previous reading, write up a small report, and receive a bonus upon completion for the month. Also, we were provided a phone package that paid for my family plan every month through reimbursement. The culture and environment were thoroughly researched, discussed, and refined through much experimentation. An experiment that was ongoing, almost methodically, as if a change had to occur in some aspect. There was an unease of becoming complacent or stagnant with current processes and this provided an open discussion every month - sometimes each week - to suggest and make improvements in an ongoing manner. Every day was interesting and I do not regret the time I spent surrounded by such hard working and inspiring people. The biggest con I experienced was that both the expectation and demand were entirely one dimensional and, I would argue, too unreasonable to meet. What I mean by this is that it was like being asked to begin laying down the foundation to a structure without first providing the time to draft-up a blueprint. During my employment I took on many hours of online training, went on to read many online articles about the industry as well as publications such as; Eat that Frog, Made to Stick, Nonviolent Communication, Never Split the Difference, Inner Engineering, & The Social Leap. All of this intended to be the blueprint of my work as a CSM which largely meant managing customer complaints, remaining well spoken, addressing requests and managing technological growth within their office. I did all of this while completing all my daily tasks and deadlines - which was never an topic of discussion. However, leading up to my departure, I was instructed that my effort above was not satisfactory. I received many complaints that my technical skills had not risen to my peers' expectations and was receiving write-ups regarding my ability to diagnose the severity of technical failures. I was not opposed to the idea of studying a technical cert., but coming back to drafting a reasonable blueprint - I reiterated my current achievements. I had made huge headway as a relationship manager and pleaded that I valued being able to utilize a part of my week to being outdoors. In my case, the answer and ask was to dedicate my after hours and weekends entirely to additional reading & study for security-related technical certification. That this was a normal ask and was successfully balanced by everyone in upper management. This is where our breakdown occurred and soon following these discussions I was given my notice of leave. It was a huge con to have put forth such a tremendous effort and to be growing into a new position for this effort to be entirely undermined by the inability I had to relate as fellow technicians. -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 3.0 4.0 3.0 904883 Open Being in IT and providing these services - the line between man and machine may become blurred. private:kinetixtechnologyservices https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=904883 Nov 14th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Kinetix Technology Services Finance Coordinator San Mateo, CA A challenging yet fun, fulfilling, and rewarding place to work with a TON of opportunities! I started at Kinetix as an intern and then was hired full-time once I graduated from college. After being with the team for 2+ years, here are my thoughts: - Kinetix does a great job of making sure the right people are on the right bus. The interview process may seem long, but it works. Culture fit is a high priority for Kinetix. - The people are awesome! Everyone is friendly and fun to work with. It's refreshing to work with so many people who are different from yourself but have the same goals and desires to produce great work. We have company-sponsored happy hours where everyone either gets together at the office or goes out to a local bar/restaurant. - There is a lot of direction and vision provided by the management team. The company does a great job of setting quarterly benchmarks. It feels like the entire company is working together to accomplish high-level goals. - Kinetix has a calm, fun, and driven CEO. He does a great job of driving the vision for the company, which has contributed significantly to the success of Kinetix. He is very easy to talk to and participates in company events. - Lots of tools are provided to not only help you accomplish your daily tasks but also go above-and-beyond, allowing you to create value for Kinetix and yourself. While learning new skills is normally encouraged at other companies, Kinetix takes this to the next level. Learning is required but, in turn, it is rewarded and celebrated by everyone. Kinetix will pay for you to improve yourself (e.g. paying for certificate courses, books, etc.) and encourages that everyone takes an hour of PWT (Private Work Time). - Clearly outlined career advancement! Kinetix has a system called the Career Progress Tracker (CPT). It's an outline that states everything you need to do to get a promotion/raise and paves a future for you within the company. If you are interested in other departments or roles, you can work with your manager to design a career path that leads there. - Open to new ideas and improvements. There is a process where you can submit any idea you have for Kinetix and the entire management team will review it. If they feel it is a valuable improvement, there is a process to make it a quarterly project. - Strong on feedback. While the feedback process at Kinetix is a bit unorthodox, there is plenty of value in it. - Tons of opportunities for growth are offered at Kinetix. There have been people at Kinetix who started off answering phones and worked their way to becoming a Senior Project Manager. The company truly values its people and as opportunities open, they do a great job promoting from within. - Depending on your role, you will have a lot of autonomy here. There's not a lot of micromanaging going on at Kinetix and you are expected to hold yourself accountable for the work you do, which is refreshing. However, you’re not alone; while you are encouraged to problem-solve on your own, if you need help the management team is always there to provide guidance. - Documentation is huge at Kinetix. With so many internal processes and clients, documentation plays a large role in assuring we all on the same page. Everyone is encouraged and even rewarded to expand and update documentation. - Open floor plan. Everyone here sits together, meaning you get plenty of face time with management and can easily collaborate with different departments. - Unlimited PTO. Kinetix encourages people to take time off and there is an internal process to help you organize your workload before going out of office. - Company-wide WFH day! - Location, location, location! I commute to the San Mateo HQ from Berkeley, and even though it’s a bit of a drive (50 minutes avg.), I really dig the location of the office. Trader Joe's is right across the street, there is a café downstairs – both convenient lunch spots! Building management arranges events throughout the month (lunch and learns, socials, fundraisers, food trucks, workout classes) that are free to attend. Parking is free and there’s a gym on-site for all tenants! - Lots of internal processes to learn. As a new team member, it may be a bit overwhelming to grasp all the processes at Kinetix. - High workload, especially when other team members are out of the office. When multiple people in a department are out at the same time, it can create quite a challenge for other team members. - Swift changes without much notice. Kinetix has gotten better at this but there have been instances where we change an entire process with a day's notice. - No 401(k) matching. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 3.0 5.0 904883 Open - Continue to promote from within. - Refine the management team - it seems like it could be smaller. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Kinetix Technology Services
private:kinetixtechnologyservices https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=904883 Nov 6th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Kinetix Technology Services Responsive Support Technician San Mateo, CA Fast paced career with lots of learning I first started at Kinetix as an intern. I have now been working for the company for over 2 years and have been given the autonomy to grow a department with proper trust from management. The biggest pro of working at Kinetix is the learning culture that is matched with a dynamic and fast paced environment. Kinetix is not for everyone and often times the person looking for a "typical" job in technology will not succeed here. You need to work independently, critically think, and work well in a fast paced environment. Feedback and questioning the status quo is a norm here where you get to grow your technical and soft skills. If you take out your ego, realize learning should be a priority, and work well with others, Kinetix can be a place where you can grow your career rapidly with a paper trail of good work. The first few months at Kinetix are very uncomfortable and the job can truly be the most difficult in your career. I recommend avoiding this company if you are looking for an easy 9-5 job. Another con, which comes with the nature of a small company, is workload increasing when employees take PTO. The pay is better at other companies but you risk getting niched in a certain department, risk losing learning opportunities, and limit your ability to autonomously grow your career. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 3.0 5.0 5.0 3.0 5.0 904883 Open Continue growing your employees and continue listening to your employees. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Kinetix Technology Services
private:kinetixtechnologyservices https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=904883 Nov 4th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Kinetix Technology Services Operations San Mateo, CA Learn something new everyday When I was offered a position a Kinetix, I was told that "I will learn more and have more fun than just about anywhere else" and I can confidently say that's held true during my time here. It's a startup environment that empowers their employees to grow and learn, while also functioning as a group of friends with like-minded personal and professional ambitions. Kinetix invests in their employees and provides them opportunities to be independent and creative. Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the growth and success of the company as a whole. However, often times more importantly, they strive and encourage their employees to always continue to learn. This creates an inspiring and motivating place to work. I easily have learned more in my first six months at Kinetix than I did at my previous employer of over three years. Some may consider this a con, but Kinetix promotes a feedback culture. This concept can be difficult for some at first, but being "coachable" is a skill that a lot of companies don't take the time to teach. This will often lead to frustration and repeated issues. At Kinetix, you'll learn to reflect on how something could have been handled differently, regardless of if it was in or out of your control. The management team (including the most senior executives) truly has an open door policy. They encourage their reports to speak openly about any concerns they have. And not only are they willing to listen to any issues, but they act on them. I'll be the first to say that this company is not for everyone, and I think that's what separates Kinetix from the rest. You will be challenged everyday and you have to be willing to put in the work. But - if you are looking for a foundation that will carry over into your professional and personal life, then Kinetix is the company to provide you that opportunity. Workload can be high at times but the management team is always willing to listen to the concerns of their employees. There are a lot of internal processes that need to be learned which can be overwhelming for a new employee. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 904883 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Mar 15th, 2021 03:07PM Kinetix Technology Services
private:kinetixtechnologyservices https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=904883 Sep 26th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Kinetix Technology Services Project Manager San Mateo, CA Great people, terrible work life balance. Sexual assault allegations went un-touched - Kinetix hires some of the best people I've ever met. - After work events are quite fun - Learn tech skills at a blazing pace - Bonuses were pretty hefty when I was there.. I've heard they've since disappeared though -Feedback is pretty transparent, though at times brutal, and the company is constantly working towards improving themselves - Work/life balance heavily leans towards the work side. Very frequently had to work extra hours to get the job done. Did not feel like we were ever properly staffed due to 2 reasons: high churn and low headcount to begin with - Never been more stressed in my life than when I worked at Kinetix. Very high expectations are put on staff and you can be labeled as "unreliable" if you make too many mistakes. - Feedback often comes off as public shaming. Some higher management make it their life to call out every single problem that occurs publicly. Feedback is then dissected by the entire company - Management often spoke ill of employees who left afterward - Most people here are underpaid for the amount of work they do. CTO walks away with millions while the rest of the team have a hard time making rent. A large number of staff left to other MSPs and made 20k + more than what Kinetix offered -Employees get a sense of stockholm syndrome. They believe that they owe the company their lives due to the career opportunities the company presents, although the company gives little to no equity in return. - A very large sexual assault allegation went completely under the rug. Frequent company “parties” (they put out 4-8 bottles of liquor on an office table). Lots of free snacks. I didn't believe all the bad reviews either until I started working at Kinetix. I'm humiliated to have ever been associated with this company and after the first week of my start date, I realized I made a huge mistake. When you go in for an interview, notice that nobody in the office? Strange right? Yep. See those people in the pictures on Glassdoor? Maybe 1 still works there. Bottom line: If you care about clients and want to produce fantastic work for them, it is almost impossible because there are so many internal forces working against you. The overall quality of work you are able to produce is so subpar because of the way the company manages itself. If you want to do great work, you are should not work at Kinetix. This company cannot manage itself. - Untrustworthy, silo-ed management. - Minimal communication across teams. - A pattern of serious lack of foresight in new internal process launches (putting clients and their tech at serious risk). - Any new ideas are met with intense hostility and suspicion. - You are required to publicly shame your colleagues by email. (This just blows me away...) - Management is mean. It is painful to watch how they treat colleagues. - Management says "to be successful at Kinetix you need to speak up" but when you do, they will report that you aren't working as a team. It's a confusing and depressing trap. - You are expected to answer Slack 24/7 (no excuses). - They say that they care about work/life balance but uniformly reward those who answer email at 1am and celebrate those who work on weekends. Options for frequent bonuses if you are willing to put in the extra work. The working environment and culture is absolutely toxic. The management team is very cliquey, and their MO is to talk poorly, and belittle anyone or anything they do not understand or agree with. I would not recommend this environment for women: misogyny and sexual harassment is implicitly accepted, and legitimate concerns are ignored, and not handled correctly. The above review is accurate and true. The CEO's response should be telling: it acknowledges that an incident occurred, the person who committed the act is still there, and the person who suffered the attack is not. Job security here is a facade. It was common to see employees of 2 years fired as soon as the management "in-crowd" disagreed with their opinion and expectations. Management speaks poorly about current and previous employees rather than looking internally and figuring out why those people left in the first place. They cannot comprehend that they may be the reason why people are leaving, and are in absolute denial about the needs of their business and the people who compose it. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 14.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 904883 Open You reasonably cannot expect anyone to believe you take sexual harassment seriously when your co-founder is still very active in your business and culture, and has a checkered past that he himself acknowledges.
