Great money, benefits could be better. Depending on which base you work at means friendly or unfriendly people. Management OK, on you own if a dangerous situation happens. Seems like the more hours you work, the better your change of promotion.

Dispatch is horrible and have attitude problems anytime you ask them for "ANYTHING" !!! They need to improve on their people skills. Also they need more sanitary comfort stations for drivers.

Really enjoyed my time with KCSO and would still have the job if stayed living in the Washington state. Job could be exciting! benefits were great. Money was good. Hours could be long. Required to stay in the courthouse(s).

I worked as a Corrections Officer at the King County Jail (Seattle, WA). The supervisors there are weak self-absorbed idiots. They will throw you under the bus the first chance they get if they think it will benefit their careers. The hardest and most intelligent Officers are always used to work the toughest posts and complete the toughest tasks. The dumb, incompetent, and cowardice Officers are hidden away by the supervisors and given the easiest posts to work at the same pay rate. If you consider yourself a hard working individual with morals, don't work for King County as a Corrections Officer. They will use and abuse you. Do yourself a favor and look for a different career. Law enforcement in general is a trap that will ruin your life and your family's life. I was lucky enough to get out while I could. Never going back.
