I worked at Kingswood Academy- Delray Beach location for a week.
When I was hired I was told I will be receiving “Orientation” on my first day. On my first day, I didn’t not receive a “orientation” or any type of training. Very unsanitary working conditions. Toys only get cleaned once a week. Filthy classrooms and floors. I asked if the floors get cleaned daily & I told no. There is not a cleaning crew that comes and clean up at the end of each day.

Coming in at 6:30 and preparing for the entrance of students from 6 districts in New Castle County, is enlightening. Respect, trust and good behavior will get them interested in continuing their education and getting their lives back on track.
My day consists of telephone calls from parents, schools and probation officers. I set up intake meetings for the new students and I am responsible for keeping their records. At any time I might need to scan their information to another school, court or social security.
I absolutely love my job and the people I work with. I have been here for thirteen years. Furthering my education to move on, is what I am looking for. This will be a bittersweet departure.

Truly exhausting place to work
|
I have never worked anywhere like Kingswood Academy, the staff morale is horrific, mainly due to the SLT team, who resemble a private members club and have no interest in staff feeling happy at work. Staff are perpetually bullied out, constantly looking over their shoulders and stressed to the point of illness, which is then seen as weakness and a reason to ensure you leave.
That being said the children are a challenging but mainly lovely bunch to teach; who I feel are massively let down by the dictatorship style of the academy.
It is only now that I am happy in another school do I realise the true extent of the damage Kingswood Academy does to it's staff.

I worked for Kingswood Academy from the day they opened the school’s doors until 2010. The staff was supportive and always had the students best interest at heart. The principal wanted to expose the student to opportunities outside of the classroom. The community partners really believed and the students and wanted to help the students to take advantage of the opportunities they were afforded.

Kingswood Academy is a great place to work,but not offer any health insurance benefits. Work schedules changes every week. This is one of the main reasons that most of the employees do not last more than a year. Like in my case.

A lot of out of ratio problems and when you leave the job for what ever reason they give a very bad report to make sure you don't get another job. Turn over rates is through the roof
