KGI puts on a good front, but culture is ruined from the top

There are so many genuinely wonderful colleagues and fantastically talented people at Kinney Group. Core values are front and center, and colleague recognition is frequent and prompt. Technical colleagues (engineers) have ample opportunity to grow and develop their skills through advanced training initiatives.
|
The emphasis on culture and colleague support is meaningless because it is ultimately negated by leadership. With the exception of one VP who is constantly spoken over and undervalued, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) is composed of white men whose leadership philosophies are twenty years out of date. Entry-level colleagues, women, and people of color at KGI were constantly disrespected by the CEO, who lacks a basic understanding of and appreciation for certain parts of the business. The facade of investing in colleagues is there, but KGI will never be a truly great place to work until ELT commits to a long-term, effective leadership philosophy, updates their outlook on diversity and inclusion, and values colleagues as individuals who shape the company rather than detractors from a bottom line. I don't know if those changes can take place under current leadership.

Start actually seeing your colleagues as valuable contributors rather than expendable—your reputation as an employer will continue to suffer as long as ELT retains stale, outdated workplace philosophies. Real investments need to be in the form of meaningful mentorship, consistent support, tangible dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and REAL transparency. The high level of colleague turnover, especially in sales, is due to leadership issues that create untenable workplace situations. ELT (especially the CEO) must rethink the way they manage; until that happens, KGI will perpetuate a work environment that is at best dysfunctional and at worst toxic.

They definitely invest good money into training. When I worked here, there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't learn something.
Free drinks and snacks and a great kitchen
You get to work on some pretty cool projects with great people.
Very smart people around you
Benefits are pretty good

You can make more money doing the same job easily somewhere else.
You'll find yourself wearing multiple hats and juggling different tasks quite often.
Can be a very stressful environment with the constant overflow of work.

Keep investing in training. It's by far your best quality.
Make sure you're staying as competitive as possible in the market for compensation. It's great that you develop your people and the great perks that you offer your employees, but a stressful work environment + below average pay will trump this every time.

Be honest. This is also a common theme for those who have left truthful feedback. The rainbow and butterfly reviews aren't boosting your public perception, it just seems pathetic. The philosophy of "my name is on the door" and "subscribing to..." is not motivating, nor is it cultivating a culture that allows free, entrepreneurial minds to be successful. ELT, how long will you continue to run interference and try to mitigate damage to internal and external customers?
