There is a free gym and basketball court you can use. Most people are nice and friendly (depends on what team you are on). The campus is nice and the company has occasional employee events to boost morale. See other reviews... They are accurate! As other reviews mentioned most of the perks of working at Kiss Products are the free meals and gym. The free meals come at a price of coming in early and staying late for dinner. Most employees think they provide meals in order to get us to work extra hours (usually without being compensated with overtime). There is a half hour for lunch which hardly gives anyone enough time to stand in line for food and actually eat it, let alone take a mental break from work. We all have to eat with other employees and therefore are talking about work throughout lunch and don't have enough time to take care of ourselves. The company is strict! It is a Korean-American company that started in the late 1980s. Everyone that is from Korea that works here says that the company culture is set up like corporate companies in Korea in the 80s. They have not caught up with the times of the current workplace trends, positive company culture, diversity and flexibility. The company has a lot of nepotism. The company is managed from the top down. All senior managers are Korean men. There are hardly any managers who are women or of other ethnic groups. If people that are lower than managers make suggestions for improvement is it ignored (hence managed from the top down). Everyone is micromanaged. A lot of the managers have only worked at Kiss and have limited skills in their field. Some of them have no leadership skills but were promoted to manager anyway. The company is very disorganized and has poor communication. Projects are poorly planned and often come with last minute, tight deadlines. The industry standard for workflow is that projects are planned 2-3 months in advance. At Kiss Products it is often at the last minute causing undue stress on the employees. If you can avoid working here, please do. Before joining this company, I read the reviews and still gave this place a chance. However, the poor reviews are unfortunately accurate. Don't let recruiters lie to you about how great this place is, either. That is part of the reason I gave this company a chance despite the reviews here. Also don't be fooled by the positive reviews, they are usually left by HR. The company has also sent out email blasts pleading with team members a few times as well to leave positive reviews on Glassdoor to boost their standing. There is a lot of micromanagement that happens in this place. The company also recently revoked WFH privileges, and employees must come in 4 days a week. Not great for work/life balance considering that this office is in the middle of nowhere and takes forever to get to. I don't know a single person who works here who has an easy commute to this office, even those who live on Long Island have told me it takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half to reach the office every day. Most people are commuting from Queens as well and have a hefty commute. There are even people who commute nearly two hours from Jersey. The shuttle bus system is also very limited and doesn't help much. LIRR tickets are really expensive to be purchasing on a weekly to monthly basis and it eats up your paycheck faster than you know. Also, the company only offers 30-minute lunch breaks. You are not allowed to take food out of the cafeteria, and teams are expected to sit and eat lunch together at an assigned time everyday. In addition to this, the day ends at 5:30, as opposed to 5 unlike most regular companies. Summer Fridays here are not really a thing. They make employees make up the hours throughout the week, which means you have to come into the office by 8:00ish every day... It's all a bit odd. I have never seen anything like it before. Anyone who is an assistant manager or below has to clock in and out every day and for every meal. I have been in many corporate environments and have never seen anything like this. Getting overtime pay is heavily frowned upon. All they are interested in is tracking our hours. It further goes to show how the company leaders love to micromanage and track every little thing you do. I have noticed that many managers and directors at this company do not have a lot of work experience. When I say no previous work experience, I mean it. Lots of managers seem to be hired because of family, friends, favoritism, etcetera. Although they lack experience, these leaders do not seem willing to learn from modern trends, market research, or from team members who do have a vast amount of experience within the industry. A lack of experienced managers leads to a lot of mismanagement. The brands at Kiss are very behind in how they market things, and it's unfortunate because what Kiss fails to realize is that they no longer monopolize the lash and nail space. So many new brands are getting ahead with more modern and improved marketing, PR, and brand storytelling. The company lacks diversity! There is a lot of cliquey-ness here as well. I am all for embracing the culture and blue-print of a company. However, when it gets to a point where it's icing out other team members, it's a problem. If you are not Korean and/or Korean-speaking, chances are you will feel extremely isolated in many instances. For example, there are so many times when Korean team members will start speaking Korean to one another in meetings when half of the attendees are not Korean-speaking. I have watched team directors show extreme favoritism toward Korean team members on several occasions as well. There is a lack of overall community in this building. The administration tries to create forced initiatives to combat this, but none of this is genuine, and it all feels so forced. Also aside from the fact that this company offers free lunch, the benefits are not great. Health insurance here costs a lot of money, plus they don't allow you to have it until you have reached 90 days... very scary. PTO is scarce. You don't have access to a 401k until after a year of employment with them. That's really all they offer in terms of standard benefits. This is truly the unhappiest I have ever been while working in any corporate environment, and from communicating with many peers, the company's toxic nature seems to have been like this for a long time with little to no improvements. Seeing them do things such as revoke WFH only further goes to show that this company is not committed to progressing or making this workplace a happier or more welcoming environment. I can't stress this enough. Just avoid this place if you can. You will save yourself from a whole lot of stress and anxiety.
