Not a lot of opportunity for advancement. Those who have been promoted had left Kiwanis and returned later. Opinions of current, experienced staff are not always solicited/accepted. Departments aren't always good at advance planning, so there are many last minute, quick turn, disorganized projects. Roles aren't always well-defined. A few staff do not seem to have the experience and/or interpersonal communication style that they should, but are allowed to continue in their positions anyway.

Create more opportunities for advancement which could help retain staff who leave for better opportunities. Allow staff outside of top tier dept heads to have more of a voice. Ask dept heads to talk ]with all of their dept staff to find out what's working, what's not, rather than leaving dept decisions to just a few. Many staff have thoughts/ideas but may not feel comfortable discussing these without being asked directly.
