They're not shy about traveling or spending money to close a sale. The ownership group are no longer interested in the hard work needed to build another company. They struck it moderately rich with their prior firm, which they almost took public before the late 2000s economic downturn. They sold at a steep discount a few years later, but made enough money to live well and launch this company. They're trying to recapture lightning in a bottle, but they don't want to invest another 20+ years doing it. The economic conditions in India now are very different than when they launched their first company, and it's increasingly harder to run the company profitably with Indian development resources. The company name doesn't have much cachet in India, so they find themselves struggling to attract or retain the best talent. Bottom line, they have to overpay for mediocre talent that often needs to be bailed out by developers in the US or elsewhere. There's no established HR support in the American offices, so good luck with health insurance or retirement plan help. Promotions are typically title changes without additional authority, compensation, or resources. The company founders are also not great at closing deals, and they still weren't profitable by the time I left.
