I had a great experience working for Klauber Brothers.

The entire staff and office atmosphere make it easy to come in to work everyday. Management is very approachable and willing to help solve issues or come up with creative solutions to provide the best product and services to their customers.
Employees are hired based on their merit, which speaks volumes about how this company operates. If there are any inquiries from companies abroad, 9 out of 10 times there is someone in the office who can help to translate or better understand what is needed and everyone is always more than willing to help no matter the workload they may have themselves. The unity amongst employees is incredibly comforting and unlike any other company I've worked for.

Company inventory system is antiquated.
Physical inventory needs to be taken to completely and accurately update inventory records.
There should be a manual of basic processes and procedures for new hires to follow. It would be convenient in times of transition for both trainers and trainees.

Set up a training manual for all basic procedures to distribute to new hires in customer service, production and logistics. Training is tough as there is constant work coming in, this would definitely help when work starts to get overwhelming.

The people are very friendly. They bring all sorts of food and snacks all the time. I can't say anything more.
|
The system is dysfunctional. Simple things take so long because of the process that they use. Poor communication between the office and the warehouse -- The warehouse manager has anger issues.
Incompetent people are hired, especially new hires in the customer service department. One makes mistakes all the time and messes up the order, and then other departments are blamed or they have to do more work.
No salary review. No performance review. No proper training/ not standardized so different things are said to different employees. Job titles are not clear; job allocation is vague and not explained well.
No human resource department that caters to employee issues, conflict resolution, or promotion of company culture. I know one of the managers suggested motivational practices like shorter office hours in the summer but the management refuses to listen.
Treat your employees like people. We need something to look forward to at work aside from the 5pm mark so we can leave your doors.
Basically, the company does not have an identity that it promotes to its employees and so it is hard to feel like you truly are part of the company.
Very outdated systems. The greigh cards look really dirty and could only be used one person at a time. This is very inefficient.

I have been in the fashion industry for 15+ years and I made a career path change to join the Klauber family. Anyone who is in the industry knows how cutthroat and superficial it can be. The Klauber family stands out as one of the very few and unique families/companies that still have heart and soul, that truly love what they do and treat their employees with integrity and respect.
I wake up daily and look forward to going to work.
It is a rare opportunity to have the chance to work for such a caring family with hearts of gold, outstanding product and a happy working environment.

I have been working for Klauber Brothers for many years. The person that trained me advised me to stick to what I was hired to do and to do no more. I found this to be very bad advice. I had experience in the textile field but since every company has its own systems I needed to adjust to a different way of doing things. I was determined to learn as quickly as possible and once I did I made some changes of my own which helped me work more efficiently. Contrary to what I was advised I never turned down a request to help even if it was not my area of expertise. The more you learn in the work place the more valuable you become. I found that my efforts were indeed appreciated.
My overall experience with Klauber Brothers has been a good one. It is a family business, however, I was given the opportunity to expand my job into other areas where the knowledge I gained benefited me and the company. Their confidence in me helped me to grow. I may not have had this opportunity in a corporate environment. I consider myself fortunate to be employed by Klauber and can safely say that if you are looking for opportunity and if you want to learn and gain experience this is a good place.
I have been here long enough to see many changes within the company; some good, some not so good. But in essence it is a good place to work..Through the years I have seen the Klaubers help employees in times of need. They are not quick to dismiss an employee who is trying their best. On several occasions individuals have been moved from one department to another in an effort to save their job and possibly find something more suitable for them. They are especially caring and supportive in times of illness.
There is no perfect workplace and not a company that exists where everyone is completely happy. I have read some reviews and the content of one in particular that was quite lengthy leads me to believe that this person is very bitter and obviously still quite unhappy in her current position and /or life to have wasted this kind of time and energy on exaggerated incidents and false allegations.
The Klaubers have been in business for many years and they are the last big lace company in the United States. They survived difficult times and are still going strong. They must be doing something right.

- Family Operated Growing Business: A close knit family-like work experience where people are friendly and helpful. They share in the ups and downs and work together to solve problems. If you have a question or problem, someone is always willing to help you. There are chances to make contributions to the company and make a difference for those inclined. There is a lot more interaction with management and owners and working closely with them can be tough but rewarding.
- Casual dress code.
- Good Benefits: Nice Health package (but no dental). Jewish & National Holidays plus a few extra days here and there. Typical vacation/personal day pkg. but there is a bonus if you don't use your personal days. Pre-Tax Metro Transit Card option for commuters a plus and easy system to request days off.
- Hours are 8:30-5:00 pm with 1 hr lunch.
- Variety of work responsibilities: You do a little bit of everything beyond your job description so you get to experience many different aspects of the business instead of being stuck to one type of task.
- The people: they are great! You can butt heads with each other while at work but there is light banter and easy joking to smooth away any tension or stress. Great to hang out with after work and everyone has their own quirky personality that somehow fits together.

- Tough working environment: Extremely fast paced work space with little margin for error or mistakes. Accuracy and speed is a must. Need to think on your feet and be prepared to back your decisions with logic.
- Bring some emotional armor and put on your game face - Customers can be demanding and the sales team even more so. (But then again.. this is the fashion industry.)
- A lot of things are still manual and slow transitioning.

Most People in the office are nice and very easy to get along with. Jewish holidays. Casual work environment - No need to dress up for work.

Work are distribute unevenly throughout the whole company. Some have tons of free time surfing the internet and leaving the office for break while others are working like slaves. Customer service is the worst department to work for in this company - endless emails, never ending orders and follow ups. Very time consuming when everything is so outdated. (Ancient hand written stock books and greige cards) Always get the blame if something goes wrong. (Never the salesperson or production fault) Customer service reps are always the last to leave the office. Not because they want to (no OT!) it just the insane amount of work to do, can't just get up and go after 5pm. No appreciation at all, they make you feel like you suppose to stay late. You are taking your personal time trying to finish your work by staying after 5pm yet upper management expect you to pick up phone calls just because our boss do not like it when the call is unanswered! How stupid is that!!! (There's something called a voicemail system which you can let people know the office is currently closed, they can leave a voicemail or call back tomorrow!!) Salaries are not based on your work performance or work experience, it based on how likable you are with the upper management. There is no room to grow since it's a family owned company, all the upper management are family! Unless you become their family member or else go look for another job. Turnover rates are high. No guidelines whatsoever, procedures and policies can be different/change within days depend on their mood. Departments are not working as a team. Orders always late because it takes forever to process through Order Processing and Credit department. It takes at least a week to ship stock goods for a RUSH order that can be done within 1-2days. Overall the company is very dysfunctional just like the family!!

* Appreciate your employees more - raise or bonus would be nice. Just saying "thank you" once in a blue moon is not good enough!
* computerized inventory system - get rid off all the ancient stock books and greige cards (yes! It does cost $$$ but efficiency is the key! Trust me, you will earn it back! Stop being so frugal!)
* an actual HR department which employees can go to when they have issues that needed to be resolved (not an one man family related person as HR)
