I loved working with such a creative group of people, who felt more like family than coworkers.

• Fun place to work! Lots of big kids, focused on making the best toys for little kids.
• Great collaborative environment within the Product Development team.
|
• Change in ownership resulted in massive layoffs.
• The original office was closed, only a local satellite office now exists in PA and the headquarters is in Florida.

K'NEX was a great place to work, for the 12 years I was there. Unfortunately the first group of investors didn't appreciate those of us who put our hearts and souls into that place. I hope the new owners can keep the brand alive for years to come, since the product is great for kids everywhere.

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and very excepting of all types of people. Mildly stressed working environment. Most departments run smoothly, with little or no bureaucracy to navigate. The HR department works to be as accommodating as possible in handling employees' job related issues.

Salary compensation is not competitive with other similar positions in their location. Not much room for vertical promotions, with most new employees being hired from outside rather than internally.

I had a great experience working for K'NEX. Because of the small team I worked in, I was able to undertake some pretty big projects on my own, and felt like I got a lot of experience under my belt by the time that I finished my internship there. The people there were extremely friendly, and both my supervisor and boss were really good.
|
Because I worked on a very small team (it was really just me and my supervisor as the main programmers), there was little room for software development feedback from other developers, because there weren't really any. The area is also kind of boring, but if you have a car (which you must if you're going to work there), there are some nice places to find food not too far from the building.

Had the freedom of when I could come in and leave, that is if I didn't have any scheduled meetings or other responsibilities, and that I met the 40 hour work week.

K'Nex had a very corporate feel. As an artist I felt restricted by the guidelines set by non-artists in the marketing team.

It was a wonderful experience. Everyone knew their roles and treated you with respect. Responsibility was plentiful but very worthwhile

It was a demanding job and small department asked a lot on many workers. Overall not many other problems to deal with.
