It was a joy for me to help the teachers in the classrooms as the class sizes were 40 to one teacher which placed quite a strain on the teacher. Totally unnecessary and useless union only protects horrible employees and does nothing for the good ones besides take their money every month. Worked with other team members and college students on a daily basis. Serving the college community; students, guests, parents, faculty and staff with a great experience in our cafe`. We offered and wide variety of food and beverage items to choose from giving customers options. Starting from management down to the bottom, we all did our role with great attitude. The workplace culture was pleasing all around. The hardest part of my job was seeing freshmen students graduate once you became a part in their life. The most enjoyable part was learning from students their ways of life. private:knoxcollege https://www.indeed.com/cmp/knox-college/reviews Jun 23rd, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Knox College Senior Member, Harambee Club Galesburg, IL USA Ethnic clubs are imperative to the campus culture but lack staff support I loved all my positions at Knox College, as I got to work with friends, volunteer, apply my cultural and historical research, and plan fun events for the whole campus. There is nothing inherently wrong with these clubs. However, Knox would do well to reconsider how it supports them. The food service refused to let us cook traditional dishes on many occasions, insisting on cooking for events themselves despite incredibly low safety and quality ratings in the main cafeteria kitchen and the special know-how of the cooks within the clubs who knew how to make the dishes best. They also on a few occasions blocked students from paying for their off-board friends, affecting our profits at food-based events and preventing some club members from participating. The club events then go under advertised and not for lack of trying from the PR people. With a surplus of students of color and different ethnic backgrounds but a dearth of diverse faculty, we found trouble gaining ground often. The Chinese and African (Harambee) clubs deserve more respect and involvement with the communities they serve.
