private:kobalt https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=755453 Mar 13th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Kobalt Music Group US Administrative New York, NY I loved my time At Kobalt! This was just the best job I’ve ever had!! The people here truly care about you and your career. I made great fiends here too. I appreciated that the managers aren’t micro-mangers at all and I really enjoyed the autonomy I had here. The culture is great and there were lots of perks and events that made work fun! EXCELLENT PTO as well and every time I requested my request was approved, no questions asked . They truly value work life balance! Sadly the salary was not enough for me and that is why I left. I was making 35K a year which is just not a live-able wage in NYC. It was also super annoying to hear about how much $ the company was making at the quarterly meetings when tons of the employees were also making 35K and really struggling to get by. It was super tone deaf of the upper management. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 3.0 3.0 755453 Open Please increase salaries, your workers are dedicated and deserve it. less emphasis on workplace perks and “free lunches” etc. just pay your workers more and they can buy their own lunch and gym memberships. People would prefer more pay to do with what they want over just getting more “perks” 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Mar 15th, 2021 07:18PM Mar 15th, 2021 07:18PM Kobalt Consumer Services

In house systems could be improved They really invest on your learning, they prepare you well for the job as soon as you are hired. Royalty processing is done way better than in other companies (major publishers). Great company culture Sometimes they asked you to be too nerdy (data processing/analysis/in house system knowledge) for what you are paid. private:kobalt https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=755453 Feb 11th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Kobalt Music Group Release Manager London, England Started off well, but no prospect of progression. Some decent benefits, lovely office space. Generally dealt with the pandemic well. Open to wfh part time, and very accomodating around health needs. Very money driven but has a mentally that the artist get whats they want which means the staff suffer. Abysmal technology/systems. Still some obvious internalised sexism & gaslighting unfortunately. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 3.0 4.0 3.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 755453 Open Hire more necessarily staff, and acknowledge their work with tangible rewards. This is especially needed for the operational staff who are always overlooked yet very overworked. Hire more women and in senior roles, there are virtually none in top level positions which means there are no role models for young women. Also implies a huge pay gap. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Mar 15th, 2021 07:18PM Mar 15th, 2021 07:18PM Kobalt Consumer Services
private:kobalt https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=755453 Feb 5th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open Kobalt Music Group Software Engineer London, England terrible tech, bad management, slow change -nice people -nice office -starting to improve the platform albeit slowly with cloud technologies -relaxed working allowing for good work life balance The technology platform that is the backbone of the company is very slow and old. Lot of time wasted adding features and bug fixing the platform that is not fit for purpose and slow. Also bad tech practices such as modifying data on a live database, bad tests and bad coding standards. Biggest problem at kobalt is the tech platform that hinders the business. Tech management is terrible, it improved slightly when the old tech management was kicked out due to allowing the old technology to fester for 20 years. But the new management were slow to plan out a way to update the tech platform. Tech leaders are inexperienced at architecting tech solutions leading to problems in new technology solutions. HR are untrustworthy they tried to make people reapply for their own jobs as selection for redundancy. However they said people must reapply or they would be let go without redundancy, people called them out on this unfair practice. They then allowed people who wouldn't reapply for their own jobs to get proper redundacy. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 1.0 1.0 4.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 755453 Open concentrate efforts to remove the old technology platform. As the past few years have been high-growth for Kobalt, negative experiences, while disappointing, are helpful for us to address and make our company better as we continue to grow.\n\nOver these past couple years, the investments we have made in bringing experienced engineers, engineering leaders, and product leaders who have proven track records of building highly scalable technology solutions along with teams who understand the complexities of our industry, has enabled our business to not only meet the challenges of the exponential industry data growth, but provide the foundations for us to continue to scale efficiently as our business grows. \n\nWe are proud and grateful of our tech team - a healthy mix of both long-serving and more recently hired engineers and product managers - as the results have been overly positive. We are now able to process orders of magnitude more data in a fraction of the time we were able to just a few short years ago, all while making significant improvements to our overall engineering processes and engineering culture.\n\nAs it relates to culture, this past year has thrown us some wrenches with the remote-environment but through open QandA\u2019s at company All Hands, Ktech All Hands with the CEO group, stipends for remote-working, bi-weekly newsletters, a highly flexible working from home policy, Friday afternoons off to combat Zoom fatigue, extended Christmas holiday time off, and generous working from home allowances. We continue to actively bridge the gaps of in-person culture the pandemic has wedged.\n\nWe are constantly learning and adapting to help our staff thrive but we know it is important to nurture and support our staff in their career growth. It is never easy to let go of any of our team members, but we worked hard to ensure we provided soft landings in these tough times, including generous severance, outsourcing support from our recruiting team and keeping the company laptop.
