Free lunches. Pretty much everything else ... Gerard, the CEO, is an INTENSE micromanager, forcing his opinions into the simplest engineering and art decisions, making it impossible to make any updates to games. He is verbally abusive and manipulative and it is perhaps the most poorly run company I've ever been at. Once he made all the women in the office entertain his children instead of get work done because he needed them looked after! He also forced all the employees to write 5 star reviews for the company during work hours to boost the overall rating. You will be harassed so completely, a nagging wife will look like a heaven. You will know what the bottom looks like which will help you calibrate in the future Read the reviews here. Half of them are written by the CEO Gerard about himself (the best one is where he calls himself a "visionary!), the others are written by former employees. The CEO is really a flaming jerk and a crook. He has stiffed both contractors and employees. It is all here in black and white. If you need to make rent, go in eyes wide open, but be looking for your next gig. I was very impressed with the whole operation when I first arrived. I found the CEO to be energetic and engaged in the business. He has been very helpful in providing guidance and direction around my project. The environment is supportive and professional, which I really like. I also work with the COO and she is a great resource who provides clear direction and sets reasonable expectations. I continue to be impressed with the company overall. Neighborhood where company is located is still in transition, near Twitter, should be getting better. Company has a long track record of literally not paying employees. The CEO will run you around, abuse you and then not pay you. This is amazing, but is actually true. Read the reviews on this site. It is very clear that most are fake and are written by the company and the rest tell you the same thing--- don't even think about joining. Some negative reviews seem to be from a time when the company was having a few problems in 2013 and had to lay off staff - things are now definitely on the up. It's an exciting time at a company that's likely to grow a lot this year. The current team members all get along great and are pleasant people to be around, which helps too. The CEO has a terrible habit of insulting and bullying his employees. To make matters worse, he rarely speaks to employees in private, he will berate them out in the open of the office for everyone else to hear. The CEO will also contradict himself constantly. He will change his mind on the direction of any given project without warning, sometimes at the very last minute before a deadline, and he never takes responsibility for the consequences, he only blames others. On a number of occasions while working at Koolbit, my co-workers and I were told that we were not adults, that we were not professionals, and that we had no worthwhile ideas or suggestions.
