Extremely High Turnover, Very Stressful

The best part about coming to work was the people. Co-workers were very friendly and helpful. Also, if you're looking for careers in the biomedical field/clinical laboratory science or are just starting out career-wise, it can be a good place to get some laboratory experience under your belt. Also, most of the laboratory positions at the company work on 4/10 schedules, which worked great for me. Three day weekends were really nice.

This company cannot figure out how to retain its employees. The lab seemed to be constantly understaffed and it was nearly impossible at times to keep up with the workload. Combine a huge workload with too small of a staff and you get a VERY stressful work environment. There are some really great, hard-working people in the lab, but there is a general feeling of stress and tiredness amongst many of them, and many, including myself, never felt appreciated for taking on the giant mountain of work that was waiting for us everyday. The work itself is not particularly difficult as long as you follow the methods. It's just very repetitive and the volume of work is huge. The compensation here is also very mediocre, especially considering the work environment and what is expected of you. If you do work here, just don't stay too long. Get in, get some experience, and then find something else that's more satisfying and rewarding.

Regardless of your previous qualifications and capabilities you will quickly hit a "ceiling" if you do not have a degree in the scientific field. For example, an employee who only had operational testing experience and no sales experience was promoted to be a regional sales representative over someone who had 5 years of outside sales experience in other industries.
