Instances of employees feeling unsafe or intimidated are not adequately addressed, with individuals facing repercussions for expressing concerns. This creates a toxic work environment that stifles creativity and collaboration.
Employee well-being initiatives, such as unlimited PTO, parental leave and other extended leave, are overshadowed by a culture of layoffs and disregard for personal time. Employees hesitate to take advantage of these benefits out of fear of being targeted for layoffs or facing negative consequences upon their return.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts appear superficial, with marginalized groups disproportionately affected by layoffs and demotions. This undermines the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace and diminishes trust among employees.

There is no clear direction on where the company is heading to.
Management keeps juggling words at the townhalls and pivoting at the slightest market indication of where demand is.
The retaliatory culture is so toxic that you can get the vibe during the interviews. There are better employer options out there.

Great culture, executive transparency, mission and goals, effective remote work and collaboration

League's focus has begun to change and they're cutting jobs, and having high turnover with employees, but not back filling these positions, therefore existing employees are being overworked, doing multiples jobs and then are looking to leave, and the process reoccurs.

Struggling with Market Fit

League has recruited strong colleagues who I enjoyed as people, pay was pretty good and so where benefits.
|
This business really seems to struggle with an identity which makes for incredibly difficult working conditions. I think the 2 big issues is that they have failed to find a real market fit and have kind of turned into a consulting firm that pretends to be a product company and they hire talent from very established orgs that do not know how to work in a start up environment (i.e. they cannot build anything, don't know how to work toward Product-Market fit, etc).
If I had to boil it down, there is a lot of micromanagement and pressure from above from people who really don't know how to operate without structure nor how to navigate the company to the structure.
This has lead to an immense amount of wasted work of operationalizing things that clearly fail (and putting many employees in no win situations) and drive stress and burnout.

Honestly, you either need really strong senior leadership who know how to form a plan that works or shrink the size of the organization so it can operate like the scrappy startup it actually is. I think this is a symptom of being overfunded for the stage the org actually is in which is pre-product market fit.

This post won’t be much different from the other posts. Toxic may be a generous word for this organization. It’s interesting that the ones that look alike are the ones they retain. Dare not have a difference of opinion and you will quickly find yourself on the outside.
Some have said mean girls club but I would suggest it’s a bunch of entitled men who could care less about the people. They literally ask people to read false narratives during their layoffs. In addition, they parade this fake Executive Coach in front of the people. Her job is to call out your name during zooms and chats in effort to make you feel special. Take the job, don’t take the job. Just remember it’s a job!

I had the opportunity to work with this company and it made me realize that its not all about a paycheck. Your mental health and wellbeing should come first when choosing a workplace and this employer failed to create a conducive workplace where you can be yourself and have an opinion.
There is constant burnout from unrealistic goals and to add to the fact that the layoffs had impacted teams negatively, giving everybody more work than we can manage.
Leaders are narcistic and selfish, delegating the chunk of the work to subordinates whilst praising themselves at these townhalls. There are much better employers out there.
