The training was extensive for scripts, which they end up telling you to not use. High turnover rate. 100% commission based. Cliquey upper management. Empty promises from upper management, as far as reimbursements. Nothing is explained very well, a lot of learn on your own type deal. You asked 1 question to 10 ppl and get 10 diff answers. Home office is very unorganized. Constant policy issues on the back end. Stealthy underwriting.

The hours are flexible.

You enter the company thinking that it's good opportunities. Once you start it's no type of pay unless you close a case. I feel you should get a base pay for your time if you out in the field working. It can take weeks before closing a case. How you suppose to keep gas in your car or pay your bills. This job is for someone established & trying to create a business. Not for someone trying to maintain their bills & take care family you would be stick out.

The position is commission only. If you want to actually make money, it takes up a lot of your time. They state that you can make more money than you would at a 9-5, but when you look at your time spent, expenses, and wear and tear on your personal vehicle you make way less per hour than you would at a 9-5. Liberty National does give you leads initially, but most don't qualify for new policies or they have no interest in new policies. You get new leads by collecting referrals from your appointments. You pay for everything. You use your personal laptop and personal vehicle. You buy your own business cards and pay for any events or advertising you want to do.
Compensation is built very similar to a pyramid scheme and can be confusing. If your quality gets messed up then its almost impossible to fix it.

Good product, Poor training

Team leader initially seemed gung-ho for training, but as the weeks went by, it became evident that they were more into their own knowledge and experience. There was a huge discrepancy between my team leader (very hands off until he would decide to put some effort in), and the other team leader (appeared to be very hands on with his team members) in the office. For my own personal style of learning, I feel I would have benefited from the other team leader's leadership. While out in the field, it did not seem we were really ever given the opportunity to step into our role - I often felt that the trainer would interrupt and take over, which presented an awkward situation in front of the business owners. There were numerous times when I was berated for speaking up and adding to the conversation - I was told to keep my mouth shut (by the team leader), and learn from the master. That would be fine if that was my learning style, but it's not.

With proper training, I could see how it would work for a great career.

If you do not possess the "right" personality, you are basically left hung out to dry, and made to feel that lack of success is your fault.

I said the most important thing for me was a work life balance and they said they understood but honestly the work life balance is awful. My trainer did an awful job of training me to be self reliant so that sucked and I was broke but my RD taught me what I needed once I spoke up
