If I could give less than one star I would

Getting to use/speak different languages and learn about different countries and cultures.
|
Sexist, hierarchical management. Complete lack of cultural competency (e.g. still have a Christmas Party when there are people of different religions working there. Toxic leadership that talks ill of staff and treats people like children. The most financially inefficient place I have ever worked at. Complete lack of strategy.

Exciting work but tough environment

This is a great organization to gain early career experience. The work is very rewarding and you will get to interact with diverse, interesting people from around the world to make an impact.
|
Well-meaning volunteers comprise the Board, many without leadership skills or experience in financial management, strategic planning, fundraising yet determine these plans and priorities. Pay is not comparable to other international non profit organizations. There are a lot of processes and programs that are carried out in a particular manner because that's the way it's always been done - there's little openness to innovation. The internal political hierarchy can be challenging and the majority of leadership is male.

Be willing and able to say no. Many well-meaning officers have grand ideas that don't necessarily fit into the strategic plan of the organization. Stick to the focus areas rather than trying to be everything to everyone. With the president changing annually, it's tough to shift focus every year.

I like to serve people and lions club is one of the biggest social organization. I worked there as a cleaner, assistant at blood donation and eye check up camps and also in distribution sector.

It's volunteer job so there is only few people come to join this. So sometimes you have manage too much things at a same time.

Old school, not into innovation or strategic planning

Some departments have awesome managers (though not many do)
|
There’s no long term planning in place, as every year a new volunteer president takes the reigns of the organization — They implement whatever is important to them, regardless of what’s been done in the past or planned for the future. Also, each department has a board of volunteers that dictate what work is done — This doesn’t allow the experts to just do the job they were hired to do. It’s all VERY political.
