- Tried to be forward-thinking and devote resources to digital publishing for awhile
- 401(k) match
- The severance package was nice

- The World Company sold its publishing outfits to Ogden Newspapers in 2016; a massive round of layoffs and departures followed
- Several rounds of layoffs
- Many open positions were eliminated
- Terrible staff morale
- Good/hard work would often go unrecognized and unappreciated

Worked here for 10 years. Some of the hardest years of my life and some of the most rewarding, working for some of the greatest people I've ever known
|
The paper was sold to Ogden Newspapers in 2016 and they gutted the talent out of the paper. Over 30 of 91 employees were lost, and the signal to those left was an emphasis on profit over content. It's shameful what Ogden has done to this paper.

There are some great people who work there, but only a couple in my department.
|
Office politics is the name of the game especially in management. Aside from the pay being terrible, there was at least one person in upper management completely unqualified for the job, but advanced up from the position for reasons that had nothing to do with doing quality output of any kind. This company is notorious for a toxic work environment from what I've heard from former employees as well. Completely dysfunctional in general.

Hire people who are actually qualified and do quality output instead of keeping them on staff because they know the right people in the right way.
