An interesting place...

Faculty are generally wonderful people who love teaching and care about students. The faculty generally get along great together and love teaching.
|
Lots of administration issues, e.g. micromanagement, vindictiveness, overloading without pay, etc. Faculty are generally treated like children. Little support for academic pursuits among the faculty. Maintenance is a constant issue. Buildings are old and dilapidated; many are disheveled due to poor cleaning staff. Students are recruited from an extremely narrow demographic. The focus is on numbers rather than quality, which necessarily lowers the standards of acceptance and retention in every department. The administration so over-spiritualizes everything that any criticism or hardship is seen as an attacking from Satan rather than a result of their own incompetence (of course, it could be both). Additionally, there were breaches of contract and many reports of not paying overloads.

The upper management has a lot of institutional issues to iron out such as displaying transparency, rewarding excellence, keeping everyone accountable.

Great (mostly) friendly atmosphere. Very relaxed and very compassionate. Holidays are amazing and the hours are very nice.

There are certainly some employees who are not up to par. Could do with a massive evaluation and overhaul of staff. The pay is below what it should be and getting a raise is like pulling teeth.
