Very stressful but great people and loads of benefits

This was a very difficult job, but I learned a lot about myself and how to work under pressure. The experience I gained was invaluable but I would say don’t expect to have any work/life balance if you work in the media department.

Management is horrible. Favoritism, Harrassment of All kinds,

LPCH would be a wonderful company to work for if management care about their people. There is so much favoritism, they do not hold up what Stanford/LPCH stands for. They cover up serious issues of harassment of all types. Especially against people of color. But if you are good bowing down having no voice and kissing ... You can move up. Staff are messy talking about each other. They set you up for failure. Money is good but the stress can be tremendous. If you get in you might find a good department or clinic Good Luck.

A great institution. They hire the best and teamwork is really stressed in all departments. Many opportunities to attend workshops and lectures during a normal workweek. If you want to advance your career, there are a lot of opportunities. Work hard and you will be noticed.

I loved the work I did but I hated the environment
|
I worked as registered nurse on the CVICU floor. As an advanced beginner registered nurse, I frequently was assigned improper patient assignments. Examples include unstable pairs who should not be paired or a day 0 post op. I experienced constant bullying by my team in the form of sarcastic remarks, ignoring my presence, laughing, and eye rolling. Management on my unit did nothing when I reported my concerns for safe patient care or workplace incivility. Another unsafe practice was I frequently was asked to break nursing ratio in order to break my neighboring coworker.
Despite all of this, I can say I loved the work I did with my patients and their families. I was able to deal with the horrible environment because of the difference in made in their lives and the happiness my care gave them.
