private:manhattangmat https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=718107 Jul 31st, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Manhattan Prep Instructor United States USA Decent instructor pay, but everything else is sub-par - Higher than industry standard pay for instructors - Lots of autonomy - you can teach your classes any way you want - Smart, interesting coworkers - almost zero oversight or management - several members of the senior leadership team have left in the last year, leading many of us to wonder who we ever work for / report to. - owned by Kaplan, and subject to a lot of changes dictated by Kaplan that we have no say in. - after the initial training process, there is no emphasis on growing or improving as teachers. We're left completely to our own devices. - it's a very static, repetitive job. - there is almost no opportunity for career growth within the company - no positions beyond instructor to climb toward. - the tech and curriculum are badly outdated, and there never seems to be budget for improvements, even badly needed ones. - the company doesn't crowdsource ideas or innovations. Strong culture if you love trivia, debates, academic discussions. Technology was dated, and there's a little bit of a lack of sophistication in terms of product/marketing expertise.
