private:maxtena https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=851954 Aug 30th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Maxtena Engineer United States USA Good team but poorly managed Friendly, hard working co-workers and free coffee. The CEO started Maxtena with some college friends. Three out of four people in senior management are all from the same country. Apparently in that country, women are treated with less respect than they are in the US. Professional women at Maxtena are required to make copies, complete senior management expense reports, purchase birthday cakes, order lunch, sit at the front desk when important visitors arrive, etc. Men are never asked to do those things. Maxtena does a poor job conveying what they want their employees to actually do. Senior management scribble tasks and project requirements down on a white board during project meetings. Later, they change their minds. Work priorities often change 2 or 3 times during the week. Profanity is used during meetings if projects are not going well. Finger pointing is common. Senior management never seems to think they are at fault. They are not skilled at employee management and running a business in my opinion. Blaming employees for management deficiencies is the Maxtena culture. This is a shame because the employees are all good people and work very hard. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 851954 Open Treat your team with respect. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Mar 20th, 2021 08:29PM Mar 20th, 2021 08:29PM Maxtena
private:maxtena https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=851954 Apr 17th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Maxtena Specialist Derwood, MD Unprofessional Management - Shady Company Met some very nice people here & made some friends. I'm worried about some of the ones still there, but most people left this company after realizing the management is unprofessional and doesn't know how to run a business. They have a flexible telecommute policy, though it could've been much better. This company was, when I worked there, a textbook example of the argument that gets made about businesses being run by engineers instead of people with business sense. The executive management is extremely rude - including making sexist and ageist comments that could get them sued easily. I consulted with a lawyer about that - if I had had physical evidence, I could've sued and won. They don't manage the cash flow at all well, running themselves into problems that are easily avoided by anybody with a real business degree. They push the boundaries of legal hiring practices - again someone with a little bit of knowledge could easily sue after an interview here in my experience. There was no job growth, no employee appreciation, no 401k, and it definitely seemed like the upper management was more interested in going to expensive client dinners with racy adult shows than managing their business. Women would not be cursed at by senior staff, but the men would. However, women were also not given leadership opportunities. Salaries were extremely low for the market and the work they required. They tend to favor a certain type of nationality/heritage over others. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 3.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 851954 Open Go to business school or hire someone who did, and then actually listen to that person. Quit acting like you know how to run a business. It's clear that you don't in the slightest. Learn about legal hiring and HR practices before you really get sued. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Mar 20th, 2021 08:29PM Mar 20th, 2021 08:29PM Maxtena
