top leadership is a tech boys’ club — generally very cold and distrustful. guarded communication and authoritarian management style. youll always feel insecure and second-guessed.
constant shifting priorities make for days filled with stress and headaches. expect to be scolded when youre not keeping up with their random changes and urgent requests. the blame game is played a lot.
they bring in some great people only to discard them quickly’once theyre on to the next person. it’s very hard to gain trust or traction. related: layoffs happen randomly enough to cause extreme concern … youll start wondering when some guy in finland will inform you that your time there is up. no real security or sense of belonging here-
in short, be very careful before joining, and if you do - immediately start looking for other options. not a healthy environment overall, ironic for a mental health co.

The mission is great. At first glance, it seems like a fantastic place to work, and demand for mental health services is so high, they can make a lot of mistakes and still see some success.

The worst employment situations are when a company’s leadership team have mastered the language of how to sound like an awesome employer but the actions don’t match. In this case, the people in charge demonstrate a consistent lack of empathy about how changes affect employees. It isn’t enough to talk about “Finnish work values” when the management decisions exhibit the worst of U.S. corporate values: authoritarian management style, lack of transparency, shifting priorities, and uncertain income.

Kind mid-level managers and highly compassionate folks around the leadership, primarily outside of the founders. Founders are kind as well, though entirely focused on growing the business which is understandable.

Company seems to be perpetually catching up to the ridiculous American healthcare system, which is highly inefficient and unproductive on its own. Bottom-up approach with a consumer first mindset would likely solve for it, but for a long time the company did not prioritize that.
