Definitely a "work hard, not smart" culture. Their idea of a fun time is doing only what management likes to do.
They give praise to those who do very little, and belittle those that actually do a lot of work.
They also have a complete lack of diversity at the corporate office.
The people in charge? Old. Stuffy. Stubborn. They live at work. Work is their life. Of course they're going to control every aspect of it.
If there ever was a company with a Boomer mentality, it's this one. No one can tell them different. No one can tell them they have bad taste.
They roll out an outdated, bland design concept and they almost break their back with so much patting.
They're so old fashioned that it's a wonder how they're able to survive. Public Storage, Extra Space, even tiny owned self storage companies... they all have their own mobile apps. Customers constantly call in with difficulties paying their bill. Let alone have the ability to access features that other companies provide.
They'll never reach the level of the actual good self storage companies around and that's for the best.

Lot's of janitorial work and you're alone, meaning it's ALL you.

The building I was at was in an ideal location and new.

There is no cleaning service so that's you! Buildings are over 50,000 sq ft. etc. PM's don't really run the property, lot's of janitorial, and rarely staff two people at once. Hard to sell in this environment. Training was more of a beat down and not at all supportive/helpful. The pay was low for being a jack of all trades......

A very meh job

It’s an easy job, it pays ok.
|
Scheduling was made a month in advance but sometimes wasn’t put out until a day or two before the old schedule would end, if you’re an SC expect to work all the weekends and every holiday that you aren’t given off, SC’s basically have all the same expectations as the property managers without the same level of pay. Management micromanages. Maybe it was the locations I was at, but who knows. Health benefits are an absolute joke.
