Now part of Whitman-Walker Health, MTA was a great place to learn how to be a responsible, engaged community health worker. I loved that they placed so much emphasis on youth development and hiring local youth as much as possible. They had super friendly policies for working parents. Low salaries, limited by grant funding. 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 4.0 773774 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Metro TeenAIDS Health Care Equipment & Services

I thought that the 40+ staff (adult and youth) were among the most passionate people I've ever met. Everyone truly seemed to care about the young people and families. Metro TeenAIDS programs came to end in February 2015. The programs are now part of Whitman Walker Health. 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 773774 Open 0.0 [] No No 0.0 Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Metro TeenAIDS Health Care Equipment & Services
private:metroteenaids-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=773774 Aug 4th, 2014 12:00AM Open Open Metro TeenAIDS Washington, DC Much Room for Improvement.. I liked the flexibility with scheduling. Depending on your position, some employees are offered a couple of days a week where they work from home. This workplace is non-traditional. Most employees wear t-shirt and jeans to work. The job site is located in the Eastern Market section of DC, so it has that great urban feel, eclectic eateries and shops, and metro accessible. Mostly all of the staff are cordial and at least somewhat professional. Usual office hours are from 10am - 6pm, so that is the meat of your day. Unless you live in DC, you can expect anywhere from 20 minutes to over 45 minutes traveling home. Even though Eastern Market has come a long way, you can still sense the roughness of the area, and you should be cautious of your surroundings. The organization appears to be restructuring. Lots of new upper and mid management. It would be nice to see more diversity among upper management. If you drive, parking is a nightmare! Be prepared to spend upward $8.00 a day if you do not want to deal with aggressive DC parking, scratches and dents from other cars, ridiculous 1 or 2 hour time limits on street parking, playing parking games, etc. Work-life balance issues arise as most positions require a heavy workload , with pay that is NOT comparable. This is a non-profit agency, so most, if not all of its money relies on grant funding. In this economy and job security, you may want to second guess working here, as grants have tendencies to not be renewed, get canceled, funding problems etc. Also, there seems to a be a disconnect between upper management and workers. Upper management seems to think all is glorious, while lower tier workers tell a completely different story. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 2.0 2.0 5.0 1.0 3.0 3.0 773774 Open Try to provide parking options for employees - (paid parking, reserved spaces for employee of the month, etc. Diversity in the upper realms of management wouldn't hurt. Offer real job/position trainings to new employees at the beginning of employment, and be transparent about job expectations (even if excessive). Create even more positions or fairly distribute work so that employees are not burdened by excessive work overload. Upper management really needs to truly connect with the lower tier community workers to gain insight into the real work that's being done, and more importably, HOW it is being done. It may shock upper management to see that it differs from their idea of what the organization is and what it does. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Metro TeenAIDS Health Care Equipment & Services
private:metroteenaids-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=773774 Feb 27th, 2014 12:00AM Open Open Metro TeenAIDS United States USA Horrible management is crippling the organization and will be its ultimate downfall General staff love what they do and are very mission driven. Management (including the ED) are horrible. They are out of touch with what staff does and are no longer focusing on the mission of the organization. As a result, they treat staff like they are useless and don't have a problem cutting long term staff to save money (while doubling everyone else's workload). Management also mismanages funding and is jeopardizing the future of the organization. If they have a serious audit they will be done for as an organization. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 3.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 773774 Open Either share the staff's passion or get out. You pretend you know more than your staff but in reality you should be listening to them. They know the trends and how to keep the organization not only afloat but prosperous. Stop making poorly thought out decisions and do your homework. You are running the place into the ground. 0.0 [] No No 0.0 Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Mar 21st, 2021 07:54PM Metro TeenAIDS Health Care Equipment & Services
