The only pro is it’s close to home and near plenty of shops and restaurants. Literally. The owner is a hot head who humiliates employees, vendors, tenants etc. He pits employees against each other daily; has zero standards for hiring or core values. None. When issues are brought to his attention he spins it to protect the aggressor(s) which are his favorites and part of the reason this company; right down to the files and shared drive are a complete and utter disaster. He thrives and teaches that being feared and getting people to kiss their butt is how you get things done. It’s an extremely toxic work environment, so the managers act the same way with their employees unless you are a part of their “click” and have succumbed to their bad business, unethical and toxic, hazing, work ways. When I say they hire anyone, I mean it. He is desperate for bodies that he’s having employees try to bribe their old colleagues from other companies with alcohol to get the Covid shot (which he requires to work there) a dollar or two more than what they are currently making and poor benefits. That being said, this is the epitome of a “dead end job” vs. career, employer. The operations commercial property manager leads her department like a junior high school with her best friend; who is very insecure and toxic; who feels threatened by anyone that does, is or looks better than her; she is the “assistant”, who has positioned herself as “gate keeper” for many things as simple as forms, training, etc. There is zero formal training so every manager that should be training you, always refers to someone else to help you and no one has time to do that training, ever. If these two individuals in the Property Management Dept. do not like you and feel threatened by your education, license, career background, personality or even looks; you will not go far and they will try to hurt you in thee most childish and extremely unprofessional ways; even if they have to lie or twist a story to fit their narrative to have you fired, I’ve bared witness to it. It’s sad. It’s upsetting. I have had to witness hostile fights amongst grown women and men in this office; cursing on the phone and to each other loudly or telling people off, it happens daily. I have witnessed employees humiliated loudly by the owner himself and managers. I have seen employees walk out at least 4 different times or not come back from breaks and lunches in a very short period of time due to their superiors or fellow employees unprofessional behavior. The benefits are horrible and the pay is pretty bad but to try and keep you, a $1 or $2 might be thrown your way, maybe even a title change with the same pay or “possible” commission that you’ll NEVER see because the “favorites/ pets” will make sure BIG anchor tenants or large commissions stay theirs, no matter if you are managing it, received the portfolios or received a title change. There is NO TEAM WORK here; the owner says you are a team in “public” but proves and says otherwise, unless you are part of the “click” in your department. HOA, Commercial property management, accounting, etc. Let’s talk about issues: if you have them with anyone and see, hear or are a victim to anyone at MGR, do not bother addressing it to Human Resources as you will only make your tenure at MGR much, much worse. The aggressor(s) are never reprimanded, especially if they are a favorite of the owner. You will then become a target because the owner does not hold any of the problem employees accountable or gets rid of them. The owner and company was once a very small company and still technically is compared to the other players in the Real Estate field; he holds personal resentment with major players in the Commercial Real Estate field, like CBRE, Cushman and Wakefield, Lee and Associates, etc. He and his toxic heard think oppressing, humiliation, being bullies; pushing others to be sheep to the jab but calling himself a republican; talking “big” game but not ever following through, is the way to get people to do what he or they want. This is not a place you will retire from. It is a “job” and not career based company for legitimate growth. You’ll feel as though you are becoming dumber by the day working amongst these people. It’s a depressing place. You can feel the toxicity in the air. I got my real estate license a few years ago and didn't know where to begin, and MGR got me started right away with how to start and build a strong book of business. It is important at this company to show up and put in work but if you do, many agents and managers get promoted and move through the ladder and are very successful. This company's learning process is to get your feet wet from the beginning which is a great way to learn through experience but can be scary to start without the previous experience. Great company culture and fun company events. CEO was difficult to work for and you were lucky to get a pay raise, even if your reviews were excellent.
