Warm fuzzies from the type of work this video production company creates—short documentaries for non-profit and purposeful companies (read: people trying to do good). Fellow contractors and employees great, interesting, well-meaning people. Remote work can be tailored to your lifestyle and additional work schedule; work is fairly steady. As a freelance video shooter or editor, it can feel like a race to the bottom in terms of what people are willing to pay for your services. Micro-Documentaries has set rates for the projects assigned to their freelancers, and they are too low for the work being done. When you realize that clients are being billed X amount for a video or slate of videos and that the people who actually shoot and edit them are getting perhaps 5% of that amount in payment, it will lead you quickly to the door. Management's expectations about how long you will spend on an editing project make the payment sound reasonable on its own, until you realize how much longer you will need to spend on it than advertised. In my time there, management's response to freelancer complaints and concerns was to have them jot down concerns on a piece of paper and then put that paper in their own pockets and never mention it again. Typical of the kind of insulting treatment that would sometimes occur. The expectation seemed to be that the warm fuzzy aspect of working on supposedly world-helping videos would mitigate low payment and mistreatment. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 3.0 3.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 1.0 2.0 781263 Open 0.0 [] CONTRACT No No 0.0 Mar 21st, 2021 08:50PM Mar 21st, 2021 08:50PM Micro-Documentaries Consumer Services Media
