Met many great individuals who were in the trenches that ultimately ran the company during what felt like an entire career with a void of leadership at Midaxo. The decline of Midaxo can be measured in a multitude of ways - but the main attributes in no particular order are 1) customer churn 2) employee churn and 3) revenue decline. From a promising young company, Midaxo hit many leadership roadblocks as the company accelerated in growth. When the latest leadership cult arrived, it was the final nail in the coffin for this once young, prospering start-up. The ultimate demise of the company is the current sales leadership, which stems from the tolerance from the CEO and board for allowing it. the sales leadership is no more qualified to direct traffic, let alone lead an organization to revenue growth and success. What data there is would suggest that a significant number are dissatisfied. Culture is extremely toxic and attrition rate is unbelievable. Feedback culture can be summed up as “WE succeed - YOU fail”. New initiatives / ways of working / orgs are announced without warning and most are just abandoned midstream. For instance, in the beginning of the year a development consultant was introduced to the Engineering team. His mandate was to improve the perceived “development issues” and the team was told to expect him to be closely involved with planning for at least the next couple of months. In the end he facilitated one session and was never heard from again. No concrete explanation was ever given for what the “development issues” were (“failure to get stuff done” is a rather poor metric). Nor was there ever any reason given why the collaboration between Midaxo and the consultant fizzled out so quickly. Some of our customers were a top class companies and our product helped them grow. It was a job and I got paid. Free beer, health insurance covering private healthcare in Finland, a massage chair in the office. Backstabbing, toxic culture maintained by the leaders of the company. You never know who's going next. The management team has no idea what they are doing. They pushed out or fired all the people who actually knew how to do their job. They went because they were trying to improve the situation but the CEO and some of his peers don't want to give up their power. So we ended up with a chaotic roadmap which was just a list of Kalle's wishes and deadlines that has almost no base in what the customers actually needed. We invested man-years of work into features that nobody needed. The result is a product with feature bloat and many of the features unfinished. No wonders nobody wants to buy that. The high turnover of people puts the company in this kind of paralysis of waiting and looking for their next savior, but also having someone to blame for the bad results after they realize what the CEO is like and leave (or get fired). The results of the company actually started looking quite bad although the CEO and COO were really trying hard to paint the picture with the bright colors. The CEO is completely clueless and he seems to base his decisions on articles he finds online. He will preach about open lines of communication and wanting the best idea to win, but this is all lies and smoke. In fact, if you challenge any idea or speak your mind on certain matters. Then you are placed in the dog house, with little to no chance of ever advancing at Midaxo. In fact, last year (2019), as many as 52 people were fired or let go. You can not tell me that this is "how it is at a startup". The company is 9 years old now and growing pains can no longer be used as an excuse. In fact, the whole management team is clueless and are the root cause for the toxic environment there is at Midaxo. There is zero love for employees and not even a thank you. The current COO (former VP of Sales) was promoted suddenly and without any reason other the the CEO figured it would make Midaxo look bigger on the international scene. The same COO fired all the sales guys and hired his own friends and former colleagues just weeks into the job. So the current sales team struggle to hit numbers because nobody knows the M&A space at all. Yet, the amazing CEO, COO and co-founder Kalle, can see this. They are blind as bats! Midaxo had a great product years ago and good traction. There have been many changes in 2019 and all of them for the good. The leadership is putting systems and process in place to greatly improve efficiencies and be able to provide great value for clients. The culture is great and fun, with a cool office in a great location. The benefits are excellent compared to previous tech companies I have worked for. Too many company meetings and side conversations about transparency. Feels like the random negative reviews are getting to mangement. As part of the BDR team I have no idea where these things are coming from. Everyone has been super helpful and clear with just about everything. When they haven't the leadership team rallys quickly to fix it. My guess is the bad reviews point to some things from last year.
