The compensation for interns could definitely be better. Short term housing in the area is hard to find. 0.0 4.0 3.0 4.0 3.0 3.0 4.0 557276 Open 0.0 [] INTERN No No 1.0 Mar 21st, 2021 09:14PM Mar 21st, 2021 09:14PM Middletown Tube Works, Inc. Especially if you are younger it might even be considered good pay. no sick time. union that is in bed with management. management who does not have a clue how manufacturing works in the 21st century. people who run the company have no management experience and line managers are hired because they are good ole' Middletown boys, not because of leadership ability. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 557276 Open take a few courses on quality, and hire a six sigma who can at the very least interpret the information Plex provides. Plex wont do you any good if no one in charge knows how to use the system or understand the data that it provides. take a look around and before wondering why you "cant find good people" understand you already have some. stop with the employing of temps for 89 days then refilling the job. the reason for a 90 day rule on temps is because if you need them for over 90 days then you need to permanently fill that job slot. full time employees cannot get the job done if they are constantly training new temps. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 0.0 Mar 21st, 2021 09:14PM Mar 21st, 2021 09:14PM Middletown Tube Works, Inc. private:middletowntubeworksinc.-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=557276 Jul 12th, 2012 12:00AM Open Open Middletown Tube Works Management Middletown, OH An okay place to work, but not always what it seems. Always remember to CYA and look out for yourself first. -Friendly atmosphere and most employees are easy to work with. Most of the people who are actually doing the work are willing to cooperate to accomplish tasks. -Nice non-compensation perks like annual and biennial Christmas parties, company picnics, etc. -The medical, vision and dental benefits are excellent, and the 401(k) employer match is among the highest I have ever come across. -Willing to make investment in training for employees, both job-related courses and continuing education (tuition reimbursement). -As a privately held company, they suffer from the same thing most family-owned businesses do. The folks at the top are there because of their last name, not necessarily because they are the most qualified person for the job. -Also a problem at many privately held family-owned businesses, things change at the whim of the owners and sometimes decisions are well made and thought out. Other times, not so much. -Expects 100% loyalty from employees to the company, but does not offer the same. This can be a very decent place to work, but don't expect to make it your career or be a "company man." You will never be more than a factor in their calculations, and if the time comes that they decide they want to cut some costs, you're on your own and out the door whether you've been their sex months or 20 years. -Very bad management vs. union attitude. Lingering animosity and too many instances of each trying to "get one over" on the other. What management says behind closed doors and the story they give to the union are frequenly completely different. Too much trying to hide things from each other (both union to management and vice-versa). -For non-union employees, changes terms of employment at will (eg. suddenly and without warning stops paying overtime after extra hours are worked, cutting potential bonuses in half with no advance notice, refusing to pay out bonuses earned). Pay increases can be few and far between and in no way keep up with national cost of living increases. -Quick to play the blame game. Too focused on whose fault something was; uses corrective actions as punishment for errors rather than tool for meaningful analysis and permanent countermeasures. -Claims to be quality focused and driven but this is more lip service for when the ISO auditor is around. In reality focus is on keeping the machinery running, sometimes at the cost of not meeting customer quality specifications. Production supervisors and senior management will routinely "overrule" the decisions made by quality personnel based on customer shipping demands or machine performance schedules rather than actual part quality. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 3.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 4.0 3.0 1.0 557276 Open Start doing what you say you are going to do, be honest and stop micromanaging everything while simultaneously claiming no personal involvement and not sharing in the blame. You can be wrong - in fact, you frequently are! - it won't kill you to admit it once in a while. No one expects you to be perfect but it does disenfranchise your employees when you are quick to point blame and call out people when they screw up but have never once owned up to mistakes or errors caused by your decisions or actions. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 20.0 Mar 21st, 2021 09:14PM Mar 21st, 2021 09:14PM Middletown Tube Works, Inc.
