The residents are amazing and make the low pay and poor work conditions more tolerable. Poorly run so they were understaffed and residents suffer from level of care available. Attempts to provide a more home like or familial feel to residents. Regular and consistent hours with lots of opportunities for extra shifts. Communities are often poorly managed. Care staff are paid less than people make working fast food. Bonuses are not given. No actual meetings occur for annual merit based raises. Worked here for many years, multiple facilities — was unable to use PTO, multiple locations were in violation of labor laws regarding notice of schedule change and schedule posting and for breaks, withholding promised bonuses for recruitment and bringing in new residents, as well as problems regarding workmen’s compensation cases and modified duty restrictions. Getting to serve families and seniors. Have collaboration with some of great team members. Worked as an Executive Director for this company and I am ashamed to say that I was warned by others to not go there but still chose to take their offer. I had been forewarned by others i knew who had worked for this company about their bad leadership and inequity practices but I always choose to see the good. One year in it I knew I was not in the right company and had made a horrible mistake leaving my former employer. There was no support from the regionals and they are the source of a lot of drama that goes on. instead of helping you find solutions, they waste time with gossip, and unprofessional and unproductive employee investigations to alienate whoever they decide they don’t like. We spent hours and hours in meetings with senior leadership and even the owners of the buildings discussing landscaping! Not one time did they ask “how are you doing?, how is the team?, or how can we help?” I was heartbroken for my staff that were treated badly and discriminated against by my memory care director but because she was white no one would believe me and I just kept losing the best caregivers. I also experienced racial discrimination too and the stone was turned around and they could not acknowledge that. This is a place you work with a very heavy heart, and do not feel the joy after sometime. HR intimidates employees into saying things to get their way. They have a lot of turn over and especially directors do not last there which I knew going in. They have lost half of the buildings they use to own. That should tell you a lot. . They lose good people and keep promoting the friends of the leadership hierarchy. If you are a person of integrity, a minority, a or a person seeking stability and just or do great things please do not work for this company. There’s a lot of Great senior living company’s that adhere to great ethical principles and provide support for their Executive Directors and Teams, Milestone is just not one of them and looking ahead unless the cure t leadership changes this will not change. The determinant of future success if any is past leadership and we have seen how bad it is. Your HR leadership is one that instills fear and no company can grow in that manner. You cannot change what you do not acknowledge. You have a great issue keeping great leaders. A new ED every one or two years is a bad path for a building. The staff and residents were our second family. Where do I start? This is the worst run senior living company ever. Great ED’s and DHW’s do not last. You are literally treated very poorly by them and their building owners. HR is the worst, they are biased and will often have secret conversations with your employees to try to manage you out. Not a company that practices equality at all. A few minority Directors have been pushed out. No growth opportunities for minorities here. Look at the leadership team, it tells it all. Caregivers are treated very poorly and ED’s lack support for resources to help their staff, Especially when short staffed. That’s why you keep losing your buildings. Try practicing what you claim you have. Having a heart in a logo is one thing, but really having heart for caring and treating staff well is another. These folks hired me in to take over their kitchen. The place was disorganized, the books were not well maintained. The residents were very nice, it appeared nobody had actually cared about their needs or preferences in some time. I got the staff and kitchen organized, got everyone on the same page and recording entries in the logs correctly. This was a challenge, some of the staff were resistant to adhering to mandated procedure. The only shortcoming I exhibited in my brief time in the role was getting a handle on the orders, I was trying to expand our production some to give residents more tailored options, this made it more difficult to foresee what would be needed. Got the areas cleaned up, got us into a good routine, residents were happy, received many compliments and thanks for giving them consideration. Got us through state inspections. The following week I was called in to the head nurse's office and summarily dismissed, according to her there were missing entries in the logs the state had signed off on the week before.
