There are some very interesting people with a good sense of humor, and when I was there it seemed there was a energy moving towards collaboration and innovative partnerships. It has an excellent magazine, a unique book making class, a lovely garden, engaging events, and a charming chapel where one can sit and reflect. It is like a park preserved in time, with an intellectually stimulating environment and people. Campus president and CFO have no idea of professional management and get tricked easy by some employees who has no clue of a professional employment. No change is welcome and if you decide to do something good will be facing harsh resistance with an excuse of Mills culture that means to many "do nothing". Many nice people among academic team. On a typical work week, work-life balance was fine. During event weeks, it was difficult to have a good balance between the two, as the director expected your schedule to be fluid outside your given hours. ● Pay & benefits the pay and benefits were great, but there was no overtime paid qhen you worked overtime hours. Instead, you were given time off for the extra hours you worked, but that too, was when the director decided it was okay to take time off or you get paid. ● Job security and advancement The Admin Assistant does not see much advancement, as there is no position to go to. A position has to be created in order for you to advance. Because the organization was small, there was little to no movement. ● Management The supervisor was an amazing supervisor, but the director had no clue what she needed to do and how she needed to get it done. ● Culture Mills Teacher Scholars is a predominantly white woman organization. They hire people of color because they know they need to. There are no men that work in this group. ● Overall This position's title is deceiving. In actuality, you are not an admin. You are an events coordinator. Event coordination is your primary role. Bad / Unfair Management for the Public Safety department. The people who deserve to be promoted was over looked and the one's that are in leadership positions were questionable. Outsiders were bought into the department and promoted above good Officers that should have been promoted and this resulted in a break down in the department, which lead to good people leaving the department.
