I wore a ton of hats. Given the size of the company, the number of clients and level of user activity are very high. This leaves anyone working there with a huge opportunity to try new things and practice professional skills. Very flat structure - there's a 100% chance you'll be sitting across from one of the Founders! (cool exposure) Roles are super autonomous and flexible, and being able to not only grow within the role, but evolve the role with my personal professional goals has been a great benefit and core reason for my tenure. MindSumo's mission resonates strongly throughout both the org and individuals within - everyone is aligned and keen on leveling the employment playing field for bright young passionate students. Excellent work-life balance when compared to Bay Area Startups Startup culture means often times there is little precedent, framework, or guidance towards completing goals. The size of the company is one of it's greatest strengths, allowing any individual to take on a variety of interesting projects while collaborating with all members of the team. I was fairly compensated for filling a variety of roles within the company and only left for an opportunity to travel that I couldn't pass up. The team being small means there's little opportunity to "move up". The entire team is dedicated to helping you succeed, and I truly feel that someone always has my back. It is also a very dynamic work environment where you have a lot of autonomy and freedom to run with your ideas. For people who prefer structure this can be a bit scary but for others like myself that thrive in change and experimentation, this company is perfect. Just being resource constrained as a small startup. Pretty good for part time contract work in university. - They have contracts from some great companies, many of which you would know. - If you are new, 50% of people win something, so you won't go away empty handed. - Strong range of different contests, so there is something for everyone. - Interesting new concepts seem to lack follow through while time is spent on cosmetic changes to the website. They get set up and then are seemingly abandoned.
