While the company has evolved in many ways since then, a few things today remain consistent: Executive Management is consistently helping employees succeed in their current roles while also giving stretch opportunities to build their skills, there has always been a talented and hard-working team, and the company runs a lean operation relative to goals, product needs, and customer base. The executive team at MineralTree has some of the most approachable human beings I have ever met. If you are thoughtful and productive with their time, they will always seek to work with you to ensure you and your department succeed. The executives at MineralTree are a unified team, which is crucial for any company in setting the vision and action plan for the organization as a whole. There is a lot of talent at the company across product, engineering, and support teams that all work very hard to ensure deliverables are completed efficiently and effectively. The sales and customer success teams are small, but are both mostly filled with tenured employees that have a strong grasp on how to engage with customers properly. Finally, MineralTree's lean operation model, though potentially a downside for many, actually can bring significant benefits for its employees regarding professional development. Though it can introduce challenges in finding a sustainable work-life balance, this model puts individuals in the position of wearing multiple hats and stretching beyond the status quo for their job. This is beneficial for employee's learning, allowing them to approach problems from various business lenses, have more empathy for their colleagues, and make them stronger in their own function. Burnout from the rigorous work can be a reality sometimes, but the company actively encourages taking advantage of the unlimited PTO policy to prevent this. The cons at MineralTree are typical for any startup that's at the growth-funding stage: working here generally entails 50-70 hour work weeks with some weekend work, having to navigate new issues and create processes that haven’t been made before, and dedicating more time than may be desirable to work that isn't a “part of your job.” For many individuals, these can be deal breakers - neither MineralTree nor any Series-C stage start up would not be for them. That is perfectly fine - I would recommend to those folks to look into larger, more established organizations such as Salesforce and Oracle. Voted #4 company to work for in Boston area for a reason. Excellent product. I have read some of the recent bad ratings here and based upon date and complaints I know who posted them. Suffice it to say none of them work at MineralTree any longer for good reason. I have been in high tech for many decades. This is my third start up and I can truly say my favorite place to work this far. Some teams have a good culture of vacation time and work from home. Please please please ask to talk to team members before joining any team! Leaders/managers are very bad and you will find out if the team you are joining has that bad manager if you talk to the team members. I was shocked when MT was listed as one of the best places to work at.. It's not true. The benefits they offer are just to lure people into joining MT and to show the world they care. But the moment you are hired you will start to see huge difference in promises they made during interview and what you actually receive when you start working. After leaving the company I realized how underpaid engineers are in mineraltree. Unfortunately, I don't think the company is going to last for more than a year. They are already low on funding and on top of that the management is making very bad decisions by giving too much power to immature and inexperienced people. Some of the leaders are new leaders who just got promoted but never learned how to manage or lead a team. I have never seen such a mess in any company in terms of management. Many teams have complained about their leaders and although the upper management did acknowledge their concerns however they did not take any solid steps towards getting rid of those bad leader/managers. Because of that some managers/leaders are still ruling the team with fear and teams cannot do anything but work like slaves with sometimes no lunch time. The fear is so much that I have seen many employees cancelling their Doctor appointment and ignoring health issues. Work from home is there but it really depends on the team. There are only 1 or 2 teams that truly let you work from home and take unlimited PTO and trust you with that. But for most other teams the leaders have old traditional thinking that the amount of hours you are present in office equals how talented you are. If you work from home or are not present for more than 8 hours every single day then it doesn't matter how talented you are. They will refuse to acknowledge your talent. There is a lot of politics in the company where managers are hiding their true selves from upper management and ruling their team with fear and throwing them under the bus when a project fails. I have been in software industry for years and not once I had to work under such a horrible manager. I was asked to lie to upper management and other teams about many things which made me really uncomfortable. And if you disagree with your manager to not do certain things then he/she will just put you on a PIP for communication issues and blaming you for things you never did. Also not enough parking. If you see a red flag, don't just offer support but take actions. Especially if the entire team is unhappy with a leader then either get rid of the leader or demote him/her to lower level taking away his/her power. If you choose not to take any action then you will be left with a bad manager and no employees will be willing to work for you. Where do I begin.... extremely top-heavy executives that are in denial about the direction the company has now taken. Used to be much growth and is now experiencing losing one big hitter after another. Salaries are not evenly matched, and new money is constantly being thrown at the problem without incentivizing their veterans. Their is a constant feeling of a dark cloud over the office environment, no sense of community and it was almost painful to go into work every day towards the end. Comp adjustment system was unfairly changed and performance reviews are not taken seriously or given properly. There could be a better office culture since it lacks one currently, but it would be difficult given the lack of empathy within the executive team. Everyone seems to be out fending for themselves and not focused on the bigger picture. Everyone is kind and supportive, so the demanding days don't wear you down too much. Free food on Fridays and unlimited PTO were the godsends that kept me going each week. No matter how much it was stated during company meetings, compensation and benefits are below average, especially for the area. I took issue with the lack of transparency from leadership about new initiatives and strategic direction, and felt there was a lack of support from above across teams. Get to see a startup maturing from the inside-out. Have a (relatively) fun time solving problems working with like-minded colleagues. It all depends on where you work within the company. Finance seems good. Support folks are always pretty jovial. Sales is miserable and there is least one teared up AE or BDR daily. Implementation takes a beating and has high turnover. They had a good manager for a while, but he wised up and jumped ship. Engineering and marketing appear to be pretty good places.
