I worked at MDI as an intern for about 8 months, with hours ranging from 15-30 hours per week. My overall experience at MDI is positive, gaining a better understanding of the industry, meeting new individuals with different backgrounds/experience and learning new skills/software’s. It's a culture that encourages growth and camaraderie.
However, I suggest they reevaluate an intern’s goals and role in the company. During my time there, I was trained on various company procedures (Ad operations, business development, media planning, excel, etc.) and I was also challenged to know and understand them. However, having a 3-6 month timeline that clearly showcases what duties and skills an intern is required to know by the end of their internship can prove to be valuable to both parties involved.

Very Flexible in terms of your career opportunities, they are small and scrappy. At times I was writing social copy (which is something I always wanted to do), overseeing ad ops, pitching with sales, managing publisherbudgets
|
Great experience you get out what you put into it. I think being smaller sometimes it's all hands on deck to get things done at busy times. But that is the same with everyone. Also I think I had the one of the better work/life balances in my career there.

I began working at this company as an intern and was quickly able to transition into a paid position along with receiving multiple promotions and benefits. I was part-time by choice, and the CEO was very flexible with my requests and schedule -- allowing me to choose my own hours and travel (upon request). Being a small team, everyone's role is valued, and the CEO does a great job of showing gratitude and helping out when needed. I was able to learn about all aspects of the digital advertising and marketing business through extensive hands-on experience (both as an intern and an employee), attending numerous seminars and conferences, and working one-on-one with the CEO and upper management daily to complete tasks. Overall, I would highly recommend working here to anyone interested in the digital marketing/advertising field.

Not many Cons honestly other than the fact that it is a small team, and with any small team, your job description and duties may be blurred at times or change on occasion.

The office vibe is really great. It's a small start up with great people and relationships with great brands. The benefits are above standard for the industry, the best part being that they cover 100% of your health insurance premiums. The work load also isn't bad compared to the industry. I also appreciate that the company is also very socially conscious. The CEO has an open door policy, where you can pop in for a conversation whenever you need too.

The only cons I can think of have been addressed in time. For example, parking in the Hayden Tract is difficult, but employees all have parking badges at a lot near by. Traffic getting in and out of the area is rather annoying, but not really the fault of the company.

Shady business practices like hiring/over working interns (beyond the CA law) and contractors and paying them without health benefits and vacation/sick days. The CEO is biased towards women while puts men on a pedestal. Little to no room for growth.

If you say you don't like to micro manage, don't micro manage. And if you feel the need to do so, stop taking so many out of office trips, and work in the office. Employees leaving left and right is a good indication that you should value your employees and the hard work and dedication put in.
