Nonexistent benefits and bad management
|
They’ve been calling themselves a “startup” for a decade+ but all that means is they aren’t profitable. With that excuse, their benefits are garbage. After the merge with Imperfect the healthcare(which I already thought was bare minimum) became terrible. Like $5k deductible bad. They offer nothing for retirement. You’re lucky if they give you a .50 cent raise every few years. But hey, at least you get $25 in groceries, which buys fewer things every year because of inflation.

Misfits handled company-wide layoffs in potentially the worst way possible. Even if layoffs were unavoidable, the process was poorly handled. Customers are taken advantage of by having default driver tips added to their orders. Driver tips are just an excuse to pay the drivers less despite claims by the company.

Working at Misfits Market was bittersweet. I learned so much about myself and what career path I wanted to pursue while there. Although, there were many opportunities for me to advance and strengthen skills, they were very selective on who they deemed “worthy” of raises/growth opportunities. So many of the employees I worked with deserved so much better than a company that only viewed them as a number. It was very disheartening. I was not surprised to hear that they shut down the WJ plant and left everyone without a job without a moments notice.

Easy job but physically demanding
|
I did delivery. Day started lifting 150-200 40-60 lb boxes onto trucks. Takes about an hour as you work in teams of 3-4 and every truck has to be loaded before you can start your route. Delivery is hit and miss. Sometimes you get routes in residential neighborhoods with few steps and other times you get routes with a bunch of apartments some with no elevators. Access is an issue a lot of times so you spend a lot of time just trying to get in the building to do the delivery. Lots of walking up stairs with heavy boxes of food. Dollies are provided IF they actually work though.

Pay sucks for what you’re actually doing, Driving is 30% of your day 70% is physically demanding work. Hope you’re in shape!

Chaotic . Unorganized. No one ever seemed to know what was happening. Purchasing costly heavy equipment and having building out space only to acquire another company and fold into it. The turnover from top down was horrendous. An onboarding system which folks would not return after day one.
