Great work life balance, good benefits and job security with most positions. Low pay, absolutely no raises and politics definitely play a role in promotions regardless of qualifications which can be very frustrating. No raises are given unless you are promoted and getting promoted requires "friends" in the right places. I would work for this company again in the future. Generally every two to three years the Executive team changes which causes massive changes to the entire organization. This can be difficult to adapt to but is a a part of working for the organization. The people who work at MDA are concerned about Mississippians, their welfare, their opportunities, and the perception of Mississippi. Working for the State of Mississippi has its inherent issues. Lack of mobility and career opportunities are two. MDA touts Mississippi's creative economy. Harness some of that attitude and effort and apply it to the rank and file of MDA. Most who work at MDA are friendly and competent. At MDA one has the ability to impact people's lives regularly. A lack of a career path, promotion opportunities, and pay raises are the biggest marks against MDA.
