MSU is a safe and respectable place to work.
|
I work intermittently and was hired through an employment agency.
What I like most about this company is the feeling of safety I have when I am there. The staff and students are professional and courteous. I'm able to adjust my schedule for appointments. When an assignment comes up, I'm excited to return to see my manager, supervisor, and co-workers.

Was not treated good the last 2 years when new management took over.worked with men who most of them backstabbed me.was the only female in custodial the last 2 years.i went from a great review to a very low review under new management.i loved my job and did a great job there was no reason for a low review when it came to getting a raise.the new review system they incorporated was not good.it shoud have stayed the same for everyone a fair system not one where one would get more than the other.I miss the job a lot but not the mentall stress from employees.

The worst employment experience of my life
|
Toxic and downright hostile work environment. My manager never trained me nor made me feel welcomed whatsoever. Frankly, I'm not sure why she even hired me, other than I was an easy mark for her to force failure on, therefore quickly getting rid of the employee upper management had forced her to hire. In my brief employment I experienced and or witnessed great hostility, extreme bigotry, threatening behavior directed at myself and others as well as racism. There was no way provided for me to reach out for assistance and was told I had no rights because I was in my initial 90 day probation which my supervisor constantly threatened me with and held over my head and drug out for 5 months.

Troubling leadership throughout
|
Executive leadership perpetuates a good old boy network that lacks respect for diversity (including women). It was a hostile work environment. The direct supervisor lied regularly and made disparaging remarks about women. He yelled at women on a regular basis - sticking his finger in their faces as he yelled. The highest levels of leadership knew this and tolerated it.

Missouri State University is not a bad but not a great place to work. It is middling--in its academic standards and in its culture. Lots of small town politics even though this is a major university--very provincial mindset with staff and even many academics.
