The culture is great and based on mutual help and respect to each other. The crew cares more about teaching intern and engaging them in real work than letting them do "dirty work". I participated in over 20 deals during the summer and learned a lot. I strongly recommend this company for internship or full time. I don't have any cons on mind, I'm sure companies can always get better but nothing in particular. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 289903 Open Just keep up the good work. With such leadership and crew- no surprise that the firm performance is much above the majority of the CLO firms. 0.0 [] INTERN No No 1.0 Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM MJX Asset Management LLC Financial Services
private:mjxassetmanagementllc-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=289903 Sep 28th, 2017 12:00AM Open Open MJX Asset Management Senior Analyst New York, NY Solid Foundation / Career Opportunities MJX is a great place to start your career or to make a career. Granted, it is a bit of a sink or swim environment. I started my career there and while I have moved on to other more entrepreneurial endeavors, I reflect fondly upon my time there and even miss it. Yes, management is tough - they expect the best of their analysts. There is a daily morning meeting that is not for the faint of heart - if you are covering a deal, you should know the deal. If you're making an investment recommendation, you need to know why. Solid credit fundamentals are taught and promoted. At industry events you'll often be confronted by those that know Hans and label him the "Godfather" of Leveraged Loans and CLOs. At morning meetings you'll come to know Marty is also a force to be reckoned with. His industry knowledge and CLO strategy is second to none. I say this with outside friends who analyzed structured credit through the downturn (after I left the co) and marked MJX as a top performer. I can go on and on about exit opportunities - analysts behind me left for Guggenheim or Blackstone and all the name brands one might care about but few have the work/life balance MJX offers and several I am in touch with regret leaving for those reasons. Yeah, MJX might not be buying the Dodgers any time soon - but their expertise in credit analysis provides a solid foundation and their compassion for their employees provides one of the best work/life balances on the street. Whether you're going for the foundation and a long-term career or a springboard to "glory", experience at MJX will not lead you astray. It's great to see them advance from one of hundreds of CLO managers to the top of the heap. It's a testament to the management team and process in place. It's benefited me tremendously. Sometimes, specifically during wholesale economic collapse, the bonuses are supposed to be announced in late Feb but they don't get announced until the end of March. But they tend to exceed expectations if you're capable. Expectations are high, thin skinned need not apply - but if you work in earnest, you will be given the guidance and opportunity to succeed. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 289903 Open Although I had an entrepreneurial itch I had to scratch, I cannot deny that MJX set me up with the framework to develop a very strong business acumen. It's served me tremendously well over the past several years. It is unfortunate there are bad reviews here from those that couldn't cut it. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 4.0 Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM MJX Asset Management LLC Financial Services

The two partners are absolutely brilliant people - both are willing to sit down with any level employee to discuss career plans, incentives, goals and opportunities. That being said, they will not come over to you and hold your hand throughout the process. You need drive and ambition and should plan to approach them yourself if you want to get ahead. Great work/life balance - no pointless facetime, no corporate nonsense, comfortable work week hours to maintain a life/family, summer Fridays and a very understanding management team. As long as your work is done and you are prepared for and present in all your meetings, no one really cares what time you leave. Over $10B of assets under management and still the same founding partners motivated to further grow the Company and see all their employees succeed. A very loyal group to work with. The trading floor is quiet as more people are doing research, so if you are expecting a Wolf of Wall Street type of environment look elsewhere. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 289903 Open Provide more feedback to employees that are nervous to reach out and ask on their own - otherwise they'll just go cry about you on glassdoor. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 6.0 Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM MJX Asset Management LLC Financial Services
private:mjxassetmanagementllc-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=289903 Oct 22nd, 2016 12:00AM Open Open MJX Asset Management Credit Analyst United States USA Career Killer Easy hours and summer Fridays. Often not enough work to fill up 40 full hours per week. Good place if you lack ambition and want to collect a paycheck. Management is mercurial and treats people with a lack of respect that wouldn't last an hour at a regular company with a proper HR department. Head PMs are also founding owners so they effectively report to no one. When that is the case the quality of the work atmosphere is entirely dependent on the character of management which is to MJX's detriment as key leaders lack basic respect for others and the environment is driven by narcissism and egotism at the top. Day-to-day operations occur in a world of distorted reality where whatever "truth" that's manufactured by management in their heads is what goes - this applies to how a credit is analyzed and investment decisions are made as well as to pretty much everything else that goes on at the company. This place would be a dream for a psychoanalyst that specializes in studying narcissists with deep insecurities; for a bright young person wanting to begin a solid career - not so much. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 5.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 289903 Open Give into the CLO consolidation trend, cash-in your chips and realize that you were beyond lucky to be in the right place at the right time when a 20+ year secular boom in HY took place. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 6.0 Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM Mar 22nd, 2021 02:43PM MJX Asset Management LLC Financial Services

Good hours and intangible perks (days off, etc.) Good place to start your career. Very poor communication, almost zero feedback from management.
