I was a minor league baseball player for nine years. The pay was not good but I was pursing my dream. It was very hard on the body and you meet many wonderful people. It is very hard to make it to the major leagues; even in you perform. It is a business and an organization but minor leaguers where not compensated even a fraction of what major leaguers make. The food was not very good in the minors. There really is not life after baseball preparation, you are on your own once you retire from being a player. Like I said, compensation is horrible.

Overall, working at the MLB helped strengthen my computer skills, specifically in excel and PowerPoint. The workplace was diverse enough for me to feel comfortable and my supervisor was very communicative with me on each task I was assigned. This job not only helped me perfect my computer skills, it also helped me showcase my adaptability to all the different tasks I was assigned.

They hire new people that have no knowledge of the business instead of promoting within as I was promised they treat you unfairly and if you are to get a bonus they all come up with an excuse as to why you will not get the bonus😡

I can't think of a single coworker in 4+ years who has had a positive opinion of leadership and upper management. Working at this company means constantly having your values questioned, your self-worth doubted, and your expectations for an employer set at an all-time low.
Not only is communication from executives absolutely horrendous, but the burden for their lack of clarity often falls on more disposable employees. While the company is filled with incredibly hard-working and dedicated staff members with a true passion for the game, many can spend over a decade with little to no advancement. The company is poorly run with little to no genuine interest or care for the values they publicly support.

Loved my time there but the pay for the majority of players is absolutely tragic. MLBPA needs to do a better job supporting MiLB players. I regret not fighting more for this while I was still playing.
