An exceptional experience having had the opportunity to introduce science concepts in a non-traditional manner. Management was supportive and open to new ideas. Thoughtful reflections on what is best for the students directed all decisions. Working as an RA taught me a lot of tram building and crisis management and people skills. Working as a tour guide and an admissions office assistant taught me a lot of public speaking and data organization skills along with event planning. It is easy to make changes and really feel like you are integrated into the culture. Because of the Artistic environment you never know what your going to see each day and there is always a surprise of some kind. The faculty and staff are awesome. It would be the best place to work if the compensation was equal or competitive to their fields. Many if not all employees at the college are simply the best. they are extremely devoted hard working and loyal to the students and the college and its unfortunate that the compensated as such. Its nobody's fault, its a small non profit college hence a smaller budget compared to most colleges. It is a small school so there is a lot of collaboration and working with others on projects. Montserrat is a great place to teach. You are exposed to all kinds of students, ranging from incredibly gifted to very LD challenged. Both ends of the spectrum are great. The students, while usually VERY introverted can be a pleasure to teach once they get more comfortable with you. Montserrat is flexible with course designs and very supportive in the grading process. The only problem with Montserrat is that it depends so much on it's Adjuncts. They don't hire full timers often, and you can't count on work every semester (which I guess is normal life of an adjunct). Being a small school, there aren't enough students to fill out multiple sections of a class.
