Germans make great cars - not great entertainment sites.
Young enthusiastic team of writers/creators looking to make content. Paychecks never bounced.
Too many to mention: poorly managed; poorly led; poorly organized; scattered creative and strategic vision by founders, too focused on trying to be "cool" and not focused enough on business fundamentals.

Exploitative Low Salaries, Illegal Layoffs and Sexist CEOs: A Movie Pilot Saga
Fantastic coworkers. Regular drinks nights.
There's a lot I can say about this company, but I'll stick to what's important: Movie Pilot has been in and out of court with its former employees for a reason. They rely on their mostly English staff's poor knowledge of German labor laws in order to exploit them.
They let go of major departments crucial to their operations and success of their business model in order to be acquired by a larger company. The CEOs (there's three of them) are focused on money in their pocket now over the longevity of their business. Well, I guess it's a problem for whoever bought them, right?
They have a payment-per-view model. This means that the majority of their content is written by teenagers with very poor writing skills (the only kind of writers who would ever accept such appalling rates) who focus on quantity over quality in order to make the most pocket money. These articles are then heavily edited by their LA editors so they can be halfway decent enough to publish. Meanwhile, the actual staff members are paid a pittance.
Middle management is overworked and it's impossible to get any time to communicate with them. Meetings are erratic, spontaneous and long. Hour-long explanations of the direction they want to business to go in, which is then thrown out the window the very next week so you have to start from scratch. They have no idea what they're doing or how to survive.
Movie Pilot's competitors are well aware of how poorly they're doing, and their trashy reputation regarding their content continues to follow them. Having their name on your resumé is really more of a hindrance to your career than a help. It's also quite hard to use some articles you wrote for them for your portfolio when they're deleting anything that contains LGBT or feminist content. The commissioned painting of an accused rapist on the office wall really speaks volumes to the misogynistic CEOs.
If you're considering working here, just take a look at the many negative reviews on here (and ignore the obviously fake ones written by the CEOs). Do you really want to work for a company that will say to your face that your job is secure, then fire you (illegally) literally one week later? This has happened many, many times to SO many former employees. Don't you deserve better than this? Yes, yes you do. Don't associate yourself with their bad reputation. Don't board a sinking ship.

Perhaps if you stopped breaking the labor laws in your country you wouldn't have to be paying so much money in settlement to your former employees? Also, here's a radical concept: your female employees are human beings.
