Bit disappointing for "leading hedgefund"

- one of the few hedge funds with some investment in technology in support functions
- majority of colleagues are great, friendly and helpful people
- lots of project work available not just day-to-day tasks
- Free PT & gym sessions are great
- Delicious free breakfast and lunch
|
- lack of flexible working options, (only wfh 1 day per week)
- lack of flexible holiday options (25 days - can't buy extra)
- very political
- poor pay in comparison to other firms
- some bad apples get away with throwing tantrums and treating others poorly

Very smart, helpful and collaborative colleagues all around.
Not too political for finance standards.
Solid tech stack and an unusually genuine focus on good technology, with actual trust placed into the tech organisation.

Very lean tech org compared to the size of the tech stack and overall find - meaning roles are demanding and can be stressful with a high degree of responsibility. Doesn't subjectively feel nearly as strenuous as most competitors though due to good management of company culture.

HR needs to improve the talents selection process. Do not overweight candidates with big smiles or polished resumes, then forget to evaluate what they could do and contribute as seniors. Newbies join as seniors, take good salary but contribute little.
