Good Place to start
|
|
The people are great everyone will help you out and the company provides you the tools to succeed. This is an excellent option as a new graduate out of college you will learn a lot about the logistics industry.
|
The freight brokering industry is very sink or swim be sure you have a good understanding of what you are getting into. It can be very tough if you are not a good sales person.

Impossible task is impossible, shocker

Management style is very hands-off

Beware that when you accept this role, the pro listed above can become a huge con as it will quickly become "I can't tell you how to do your job" when you ask for clarification.
These people have no idea how documentation works, what is realistic, or what their expectations actually are, except to say that they want "docs like Stripe", which is a huge red flag in my experience. They say this unironically, with no knowledge or discussion of the actual timeline and resources it took for Stripe to get where they are. Which I know specifically, being friends with the docs manager there.
You'll be surprised to find that your manager (A.R.) isn't your actual manager. Meaning that you'll be beholden to the opinions (not factual or informed) and timelines of a project manager who has no experience working with docs at all.
Anytime you ask for help, clarification, or accountability you will be gaslit to hell and back.
They will bring up unrelated "issues" (meeting participation, pay) to make it seem as if they have the upper hand, meanwhile they can't give you a straight answer to any of your questions. They will constantly say they expect "more" and fail to provide any example of what that is or whatever they've supposedly seen that was "so much better". Priorities will "shift" but they will turn around and question why you didn't complete your original goal. They will even withhold deadlines from you but throw it in your face if/when you don't meet them.
Everything you do will be undermined and used against you unless you figure out how to spin the straw into gold in an unknown timeframe.

Terrible Position to Enter in
|
|
Free beer fridays, free lunches, a handful of very nice people, location is optimal
|
Working at bluegrace in this role was extremely taxing and unfortunately the company did not reward for hard work and constant lack of supervision from the head of the department and EXTREME lack of capability of the supervisor made for an extreme hostile work environment. The department head was never around during standard working hours and was constantly on vacation while putting pressure on the supervisor to lead a team they had absolutely no capability of leading. The supervisor was extremely passive aggressive and unhelpful and demeaned employees in their team for asking simple questions. The department head had favorites and would make it obvious to the rest of the team and would talk down on newer employees and demean their work. Overall culture was fine unless you stumble across secret teams groups rating employees on looks and overall sexual qualities completely demeaning the women in the workplace. Several times had conversations been overheard of sales individuals calling drivers by derogatory or inappropriate names. Most of upper management is related to and hired by the CEO increasing the amount of nepotism in the company. Employees are forced to work long hours for less than industry standard. They do not backfill open positions that aren’t minimum wage due, leaving many teams without the needed support to efficiently complete their work. As far as this position goes expect minimal and poor training due to the lack of being able to keep someone in this position for more than 9 months, expect an overbearing department offering nothing but criticism with no advice or guidance to fix your errors, favoritism running very deep with certain employees on this department. Expect a passive aggressive supervisor who is unfortunately incapable of their job due to lack or experience and clearly lack of guidance from their superiors. Expect no communication and major confusion on who to contact and when. If your looking for a job to hold you over i would suggest BlueGrace as a great stepping stone but not as a long term career as anyone who has entered the company over the last year had left fairly quickly.

Train your C-suites to be able to perform their jobs at an industry acceptable standard in order to keep your company from tanking. Unfortunately the nepotism, favoritism, sexism, racism and overall lack of capability in upper management will prevent the company from reaching its overall potential. Pay ALL your employees at an acceptable industry standard based on the work they are doing. Accept your faults as a company and work to fix them.
